  1. I've always wanted a Fenman! If anyone knows of one being available, please let me know!
  2. Top shooting fellas, have a slut on me. Your SuperTen really does look the business. I had a Mk1 SuperTen years ago, and regretted selling it pretty much the moment it left my house!
  3. Great shooting Phantom. A range finder is going to be added to my kit soon I think!
  4. Are you on some kind of commission Si? Seriously though, having looked at his work, Adi is obviously a very talented gunsmith, and my R10 will be winging it's way to him (eventually, when I get it back from BSA and funds allow!) to get the barrel shortened and a Twink fitted!
  5. It's all been said before mate, but without experience, you'll find it hard, if not impossible. I did the same thing, was so keen to get into the industry that I looked at getting 'qualified' off my own back and just starting up. Qualifications and courses will help, and you'll learn a lot, but it won't make you a pest controller. I worked for Rentokil for several years, and I recall being nervous going into different jobs that I had no experience of. Fortunately, I had the most experienced team in the whole company around me, and had a wealth of knowledge and experience to call on,
  6. I'd look out for a second hand Weihrauch HW95K or BSA Lightning for that money. Shouldn't go too far wrong with either rifle.
  7. Sounds like a good idea mate, I'd certainly but a set. You're right about the selection in Pellpacks....Milbro Caledonians and Marksman pellets? I can't imagine many people are going to splash several hundred pounds on a decent rifle and use those pellets, are they? I'd suggest more than 20 pellets would be required though to get an idea, based on my experience anyway. Bearing in mind that zero can alter quite dramatically with different pellets. Maybe 50 pellets, but limit to a selection of 5 or 6 brands? If you could pitch that to the major retailers, you might be on to something!
  8. I'm with the rest of you guys. Zini has proved time and time again what a great shot he is, and as we all know, has complete faith and confidence in his equipment and ability. Keep at it Si.
  9. Good on ya Dicky, best of luck with them!
  10. Great read Markha. We've all had a similar story I'm sure. I know Aaron put a similar sort of post in the general banter section about pigeons recently. Hard luck, and next time I hope you get him!
  11. Thanks Mark. Sadly it's just a tub of dog biscuits. I lost interest in carp fishing some years back and sold up. Sometimes I wish I hadn't, but I have more fun with my airguns really!
  12. Hahah, genius Bill! Thanks for the good luck wishes too mate. There's a lot of competition out there that's for sure, and it's a slow building process, obviously. I've been working for myself for a couple of months now, and last week was by far my best as wasp season is starting to get going now. Got a few other jobs on the go too, so things are starting to move in the right direction. I didn't realise you were a web designer Phantom. When my site is up, I'll put the link in my signature, and look forward to your professional critique!
  13. I have to disagree, but that isn't really what I was getting at. In my original response to you, where I said 'that's not strictly true', I was referring to your mention of legal quarry list. But I agree with everything that Phantom says above. However, I've never shot a pheasant with an airgun, and times would have to be very hard before I did!
  14. Thanks Phantom! I've just started my own pest control business after working for a national company for several years, and the business website is in the process of being built. I'm not building it, just writing the content. Anyway, as I type I can see 3 more collared doves out of the window in my garden. I'll leave them for now, but at 5 o'clock, it's all fair game!
  15. As I don't have much work on today, thought I'd spend the day 'in the office' doing the admin, and writing the content for my website that'll be up in a few days. Anyway, as is always the tendency when working from home, I've spent far too much time on THL, and had far too many tea breaks to really be considered productive! However, I took the opportunity to thin out a few collared doves in my back garden during one of the aforementioned tea breaks! I dropped these 4 from an upstairs window using my .22 V-Mach tuned HW95K all in the space of about 10 minutes. 2 head shots, 2 nec
  16. normally i'd totally agree pav, but i've a feeling that'll change next week mate cheers, wurz Good going wurz, that range time paid off! Hope your R10 get's sorted, and happy whacking with the HW100! SPA.
  17. Something like that already exists mate, PellPacks I think they're called.
  18. That's not strictly true matt. You can shoot pheasants with an air rifle in the UK as long as they are in season, and you have permission from the land owner to shoot them. It's not generally the done thing, but it's not illegal.
  19. As the fellas have pretty much all said, get the Air Arms, I had a look at an S400 carbine yesterday in the gun shop and it really is beautiful gun. I'm looking for a second rifle, in .177. I've decided on a BSA Ultra, as it's cheaper (and I'm poor) and it has the same filling adaptor as my other BSA. If I could afford it, I'd be getting an AA, no question. (and at the price you've been offered that S400, you should rip his arm off!)
  20. I've never tried JSBs or FX pellets, but have read great things about both. I've used Accupells almost exclusively since they first appeared on the scene. They were recommended by the gunshop when I bought my HW95K all those years ago, and they performed so well, it seemed silly to change. When I purchased my BSA R10 last year, the rifle was supplied with a tin of RWS Superdomes. I was disappointed with these, the R10 seemed to spit them out all over the place. As I had plenty of Accupells around the house, I tried these out, and again, I find them absolutely brilliant. I'm wary to
  21. Agreed maltenby. I always freeze corvids for at least a week first, and most of the time just take them out of the court the day after feeding and incinerate them! Still, it's nice to give them the option! I've never wormed my ferrets either, in 13 or 14 years of keeping them. I can't remember exactly how long.
