  1. Thanks all. Si, the R10 is my priority at the moment, but a Tench reg for the Ultra is in the pipeline, definitely. Just a question of funds! At this rate the R10 will be sitting in it's case until 2015 before I can scrape together the money.
  2. Had a call from a customer earlier this week for a cluster fly problem that he's got. He's also the land owner at some permission I have, so I thought I'd not look a gift horse in the mouth - and told him I'd be there first thing this morning. Got there just after first light- had a quick mooch, but it was still to dark to see clearly further than 20 yards in front, so I got back into my van and put the radio on for a bit. Next walk round, spotted a rabbit across the paddock. It presented a fairly clear shot, and I was able to steady myself on a gate, before squeezing the shot off,
  3. Just did a quick google mate, 200 bar seems to be the way to go.
  4. I'm in agreement on that one mate. They're okay as long as it's not their only food- it's basically an egg in feathers! Handy to keep a box in the freezer in case food ever get's a bit scarce though! *edited to add* If they're free though, I'd snap them up!!
  5. Not sure about a handkerchief, mate but can't you spare some Kleenex?
  6. The technique is essentially the same. Personally, I tip my pellets into an empty jam jar with some water and a couple of drops of fairy liquid or similar. I swish this around for a minute or so (I don't put the lid back on and shake it up, that could damage pellet skirts etc). I then tip them into a sieve- plastic is best, and run them under a cold tap for a few seconds to rinse all the detergent off. Tip them onto a few sheets of kitchen towl and let them dry (I usually leave mine over night, others use a hair drier though). Then, they go back into a jar, and for my springer they get a
  7. Great post pianoman, some top advice there. SPA
  8. Never had worms (or fleas for that matter) in 15plus years of keeping ferrets.
  9. Oh, know what you mean mate. One of my permissions is surrounded by public land all around- there's sports fields on two sides, and a public park/lake on another (but there's a bank about 7ft tall surrounding most of it). There's a fence that runs through the middle, and I found that if I stand at the gate, and keep still, basically the entire property is in range, and I can shoot the bunnies as they appear in all directions. More than once I've had a chap standing at the top of the bank watching me intently. Even though I'm doing absolutely nothing wrong, it makes you incredibly uncomfort
  10. Haha, good question! I'm not voting, because I can't say for a fact that it works, but it's something that I always do, and always have done. The amount of swarf that gets left behind in the water when I wash my pellets is enough to convince me to keep doing it. I'd be interested to hear what others think though- and what lubes you use. Personally, for my precharged guns, I use 2 or 3 drops of 3in1 type oil per tin, and for my springer, a light spray of wax based furniture polish.
  11. Now then photographers! I'm after a favour really. It's not wildlife, but it is photography - and a chance for your work to be published in a magazine. I'm writing for an Airgun magazine published by Blaze Publishing. However, I also need imagery, and it needs to be of much higher quality than I am able to take with my compact digital camera. The piece I have in mind is about a gunsmiths- and I basically want somebody to accompany me, take some photos of my rifle being worked on, and then one or two of me shooting afterwards to accompany the piece I'm writing. Ideally, it would be

No worries pal! As you said, I'd stick to head shots though. Good luck with it.

Perfectly legal mate, as long as you have permission from the land owner/occupier, and it's within the season.
  14. Another great offer there! You guys are all too kind!
  15. Glad you got sorted mate. Shame about the permission, but as a professional pest controller, I'd be interested to hear more of this "new poison" they've tried!
  16. Lovely stuff mate, great shooting!
  17. I've only watched the first couple of minutes, but while it buffers I thought I'd comment. If I were that bad a shot, I definitely wouldn't be posting it on YouTube!!
  18. What bad things have you heard about the Ultra ms mate? Just curious.
  19. Oh, I'll make it don't worry! You get used to having to drive miles and miles when you live where I do!
  20. Cripes! You've had a few belters mate! I, like Si, love my R10 to pieces, and you could definitely do worse than one of those. I've had a look at a few of the Prestige KUB rifles, but not fired one- they feel lovely and look to be incredibly well made. No shortage of options!
  21. Hi mate, the standard silencer on the Ultra is awful, I don't think many serious Ultra users use them. They unscrew easily though, and the barrel is threaded so fitting a new one is a piece of cake. I personally use a Weirhauch silencer on mine, and it does the business. There's several good silencers out there though. How about you save that £150, splash £50 on a new silencer and the rest on the scope?
  22. I've wanted to have a go at HFT for a while, if for nothing else other than social reasons, but there's not a club within a reasonable distance of me. That place looks pretty good, and I'd definitely be up for a meet there next year. Even though it is nearly 5 hours away!
