  1. I have jrt's. They will go to ground but I can call them out. They work cover as a pack with lurchers fielding (hopefully) what they flush.
  2. I read this excellent book within days of it arriving. Very enjoyable book well researched. I am told that there are only a very few copies of this book left and no plans for a second edition. Anyone with an interest in hunting with hounds in the lake district ought to have a copy of this book in their library. Dont miss out, order one now from www.gone2groundbooks.co.uk.
  3. Hounds of Heaven by R.W.F.Poole Beth by Ernest Lewis. Lakeland Grey by Richard Clapham (Anything by him is well worth a read) Enjoyed The Black House Lewis Man and The Chessmen by Peter May
  4. Probably because it does about 7k miles a year ticking along off road............and stick the same tyres on and the defender will go every place your hilux will... Just got standard mud and snow tyres on it. Dont see the need for big chunky tyres when I can get pretty much everywhere I want to with them.
  5. Bought my hilux in 1994, 3 years old, 24000 on the clock. 19 years later its now got 155000 on the clock, will still do the business and have only ever got stuck twice(both times bogged in gateways that cattle had been playing in) Feed the cattle with it all through autumn and winter and go staghunting on exmoor in all weathers. Girlfriend has got a defender 110. Most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever sat in and she wont even think about going places that I regularly go in the hilux. Had to have 2 new rear shockers for the mot this year, sailed thro apart from that. Hopefully it will last

  12. Had a scrape out/cartilage clean up/key hole surgery 4 or 5 years ago. Surgeon told me me I could do whatever I wanted to as soon as I was able to. Perhaps I should have left it a bit longer but as it didnt hurt and I've got a hand throttle in the tractor I was back at it the next day. Looking back. I think I should have left it a few more days but always had a fairly high pain threshold and I couldn't do with sitting on my arse doing nothing so I took things a bit easy but I was back at work. Done the other knee as well now but having no faith in doctors will leave it as long as I can befo

  16. Nice pics Blackstaff. Dont know why you moan so much about having to look through a few pictures........ If you didn't leave the camera laying about in the field then the phantom picture snapper wouldn't be able to play with it.
  17. Had a call last week from a friend to say someone he knew had a rat problem and would we like to visit before he put any bait down. Tyla and I went a couple of days later, just to have a look round to see what was about. Took my 10 year old russell to mark any inhabited places. Just looking round we saw at least a dozen rats, the old lady may be getting on but she still managed to catch 2 very large rats. It was decided to go sunday morning, Tyla, Blackstaff and myself with Bill, (Blackstaff's boy) and his mate and my grandaughter Tiegan, 4 of my russells, Tyla's Ollie and Parker and th
