if i was you i would pen some birds and get the dog under close control and get him use to not running at them, it will take a long time but do it carefully. i got a dog that would chase everything and took him free to good home it took 18 months to sort him out without breaking his spirit and now he,s a decent dog that will hunt flush not run in and retrieve, but it will take time and not loose your cool with the dog.

i get offered a few springers that have grown out of the family at about 6/12 months every year.put your feelers out and you could get one that just needs working for free and well bred also.

sorry mate, only pulling your leg. did you manage to sell that wax jacket?.i,ll give you a tip on waxed jackets if you want to spruce one up get a ounce of bee,s wax and a table spoon of vaseline warm them up together till they just melt into each other mix them with a piece of cloth and rub into the wax jacket it will fetch them up like new.
