  1. Just take your time you will soon get the hang of it then try making different size and shape nets
  2. Rew. Footprints, pee and droppings means nothing we were out the other week in the snow, came across warrens with all the tell tail signs of rabbits at home prints round holes ect lurcher didn't mark them tried a ferret just to be sure, nothing at home, in the end we just followed the dog wherever she marked we ferreted and got results.
  3. Iv got a half bred off him and have no problems at all with it she has done everything asked of her so far. All you can do is put opportunities in front of them show them all you can the rest is up to the dog itself then, theres good and bad in every litter
  4. So what if it's a hancock, looks a healthy looking pup
  5. We do use them were possible but it wouldn't work very well on those deep bracken beds, some days they just don't want to bolt it's just one of those things,
  6. That's what's I predominately wanted her for, marking ability, anything else is a bonus. We have that much ground to cover a lot of time could be wasted netting up empty warrens
  7. Saves loads of time, just trust the dog100% and away you go
  8. As per usuall we were on the fell just as day broke once we had the ferrets collered up and gear ready we made our way slowly up the fell side onto the bracken beds watching the lurcher, waiting for a mark, first set was a nice easy 6holer. This was the view from on top of the warren first few rabbits were soon in the bag, then the rabbits just didn't want to bolt resulting in a few digs 6in total luckily 2foot seamed to be the deepest onwards and upwards just following the lurchers nose, we ended the day with 10 6of which were digs. happy hunting Neil b
  9. Stop nets through the hedge does the trick
  10. Double knot for me every time on either spun poly or hemp
  11. Afew weeks ago we tackled some long hedgerows, at any one time we had half a dozen ferrets in starting with 2 at the top 2 in the middle and 2in the end, the rabbits bolted well resulting in 36 for just after dinner. cheers Neil b
  12. Depending on the ground you hunt, I hunt the fells, and use a half collie greyhound, no complaints from me
  13. That ivy never really seams to die off completely no matter what the weather does, I also got stung with a nettle in the process
  14. This week saw just me and the lurcher out tackling some woodland covered in deep ivy, it's very shaley under foot and the warrens are not too deep. The first set the lurcher marked was a nice little 7holes, ferret in and in no time rabbit number 1 in the bag then we moved on into the wood the lurcher marked some deep ivy so nets on checked for any more holes checked again and ferret in, a few minuites later bunny was on the move, the lurcher tracking progress moving around the warren then from under the deep ivy out of an un netted bolt hole out bolts the rabbit away into thick cover, nothi

  16. Last season we had 50 with no digs, it's just how it goes some days
  17. After being asked to have a look at reducing the rabbit population on a local stable yard we had a look mid week with the lamp, we saw about a dozen, then yesterday at first light I had a walk with the lurchers, there were a good number of rabbits bouncing all over the hedge so this morning saw us armed with 400yards of quick set longnets half a dozen stop nets, a bag of small purse nets and a couple of boxes of ferrets. We started off running the nets full length down both sides of the hedge, then strategically placed some stop nets through the hedge in various places with purse nets on we

  19. After 2 weeks of no hunting due to family commitments ect ect first light saw us making our way up the fell to are chosen destination. Lurcher marked a warren so in went my hob, not long to wait until that all familiar sound of subterranean thunder rabbit number 1 in the bag hob back in number 2&3 quick out then a 2foot dig to him with a rabbit in a stop end. then another bolted from an unetted bolt hole, after the lurcher had to negotiate some big lime stone rocks in her persuite it got to ground so nets on there and another 2 in the bag. We then just followed the lurcher were ever she ma
