  1. You can get specialist air rifle versions. I'm not sure if it's just silica rebranded, but I believe Napier does some. They last about 9 months, just pop one in with your rifle.
  2. Is that an SMK Mod 19 scottishlass?
  3. I use the Master Book of Herbalism by Beyerl as my reference, good book.
  4. Nettles are b*****ds, have the same problem on my land; they just shoot up over night. Nice catch.
  5. Thanks for the tip Scuzy, that's what I was trying to do. We've got a strip half way up on side that we use for vegetables. Lots of people are always walking up there to farm it and the crows don't seem to care. That's where I was going with the diagonal, then just ducked out of it's line of sight.
  6. Was wondering when you'd show up! Thanks Sean.
  7. Oddly enough, no. The adrenaline took a while to subside, which was amplified by the fact I have a cold, so when it had left my system it was hitting a brick wall.

    .25

Calibre is very heavily debated. The majority of THL members seem to use .22 for hunting, however .177 is just as capable. It depends mostly on your quarry, .22 will comfortably kill most small game; crows, pigeons, rabbits, rats and so forth. .22 is a lot easier to get hold of than .25, at least by my experience, I'm not sure about price though. I also haven't seen too many .25 rifles, that might narrow your choice somewhat.
  9. Had my first kill today, wasn't out hunting at the time and it was probably the best shot I've ever made. Gotta love adrenaline. I live on a cattery, the cattery is to the left of the house (facing it from the road) and our land lays behind both. The local crow population like to gather at the top of the field containing our livestock (ducks and chickens currently) sitting on the fence posts and gate. As I was walking over to the cattery I spotted a large black blob sitting on the fence posts; at first not sure whether it was a crow or just the light hitting the post, I grabbed a pair of b
  10. If you're looking in the £700 range, you'll almost definitely want a PCP (air capsule) repeater (revolving magazine). I'll leave it up to the others to advise on which one to go for, however with the quarry you're after make sure it's silenced and has a good quality scope.
  11. droid, this site has quite a lot of pictures on the Air Arms TDR; however most of the prices I can find are quite a bit above your budget.
  12. Yea, while we would all recognise a gun slip for what it is, there aren't many police officer that would. They do just look like they're for miscellaneous sports equipment and carrying them is completely legal.
  13. Would you really expect to be stopped Sean? I suppose it depends where you're riding. Maybe I'm desensitized out in the country, but there aren't that many police out and about and if they did see a guy with something like that on his back they'd probably just assume it's some sort of sporting equipment.
  14. I'd say when you get the rifle, practice with it until you can comfortably hit an area the size of your quarries target zone (head or torso, depending on the quarry), then just approach them, either in writing or in person. If you can shoot well, the only thing to get in your way is your ability to track and stalk, which you can improve in the field. You won't have to lie to the land owner about your skills as you'll know that you can make any kill clean. As long as you come across as a friendly person, mention how you're happy to be their eyes and ears while you're out and about (tell the
  15. If you had just cause you shouldn't have even been cautioned on it. Why didn't they believe you had cause for it?
  16. I think they do all metal ones now, Dynamic I think they're called. They're supposed to be an improvement on the original ones.
  17. I wish I could add something helpful here. But all I have to say, in response to that image is. Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha... hahahahahahahahahahaha... hahahahaha.
  18. I never bothered to post over at AGBBS, just didn't seem very friendly, or that mature. Much nicer atmosphere here and I've been made to feel very welcome. Only right to give something back.
  19. That's what I thought Sean. SMK do a model for my gun (SMK 19-18). Considering there is no model that has threaded barrel, and a the top of the suppressors category it says "allen key fixing", I'd assume it's a grub screw system. SMK Supressor for 19-18
  20. I'm thinking about getting on for my SMK; I believe the use the same kind of locking grip as scopes, to hold it on to the barrel. No threading on the actual barrel.
  21. How cheap do you need it for? A lot going cheap on eBay, for around £6.25, I'm using target_world for most of my purchases on there. P&P is reasonable. Target World: Slips
  22. If you're not sensitive to it, use a deet repelant. Test a little bit of deet 100 on your skin, if it's fine for a couple of hours, I'd get some. Fantastic stuff.
  23. Expanded maintenance section, cleaned up some formatting stuff. EDIT: Added safety heading.
  24. Good luck with it moxy, can't wait to see some updates on it.
