  1. 308 is a very good choice . it can even be used for eventuel moose hunting in scotland. and one of good CRF rifles like ruger or cz will be great too. i like ruger because they have 1/10 rifling twist in their 308 barrel which is needed if monometal long bullets like Barens X are used for huntung. the stansard 1/12 twist in 308 wouldn't stabilise them well. regards dan
  2. Hi Dan, Moose and Bear sounds like a nice combination - just to give you a flavour, this was me last night after an arduous evening 'Bunny Bashing'! I've a .22 rifle with a moderator that's ideal, plus an HW100 air rifle which is just as good! Hardly big game hunting but I thought it would give you a laugh! Hi I am sure it is easier to shoot a bear or moose than shooting fast runing bunnies . i remmember when i was young i had an anschutz 22lr and had realy fun with it. i have heared thay have reintorduced moose to Scotland. who knows maybe one day you need a good moose slayer in UK
  3. hi i own a ruger 77 all weather in 3006 and i like it it works well. shoots well and not very expensive. i choose 3006 because i am living in sweden and moose and bear may be an option and old 06 with heavy bullets 200-220 grain would be better. regards dan
  4. tikka always meant accuracy to me. i had an old tikka combination m70 12g/222 rem which i give it to my son. with match ammo from norma or sako it could bit any rifle with varmint barrel all day long good buy and good hunting. dan_hunter
  5. what a great play did you see the fotbol match tonight? dan_hunter
  6. Hi anybodyin this forum hunting deer with 303 british? rgds dan_hunter
  7. hi why not a 6,5x55 swedish . you have all the virtues of 260 remington plus at much lower chamber pressure and 6.5xx55 is loaded by nearly all of manufacotries and can be loaded with 155 and 160 grain bullets which are much better on heavier games .regards dan_hunter
  8. what was wrong with them? i have one on my sonäs 22 mag and it works nice so far. regards dan_hunter
  9. Hi what is your favourite rimfire rund for rabbit hunting? dan_hunter
  10. hi i want to give an airgun a little el-gamo cadet to my grandson which is only 5 years old and living in England . what are regulation and laws in UK ? regards dan_hunter
  11. thank you all for the replies. It seems 243 in UK is what 6,5x55 in Sweden . i wonder if you have no problem with bloodshot and spoiled meat? because these liltle high velocity calibers can spoil a lot of good venison if you hit them in wrong spot. i have turned to 8x57 for deer hunting with heavy rather blunt bullets at low velocity. regards dan_hunter
  12. Hi I have one of these on an FAC air rifle - well pleased with it. I also have a 6.5 x55 but have a nightforce on that rifle. However, if push came to shove, I would certainly put it on the 6.5 because I did read on another forum that a member had is Viper on a 308 without any problems of recoil etc. HTH Peter Thanks for your reply. if I wasn't forced by home governement( beloved wife) . i had bought a swrowski or scmid&bender or night force for my husky 6,5x55 but i have to suffer and cut the hunting budget and buying cheap scopes. regards dan_hunter
  13. Hi anyone with experience with these scopes? i bought a Viper 6-24x50 for price of dirt for my son's 22 mag rifle. my question is could this scope be used for my 6,5x55 too or it will not cope with center fire rifles recoil? regards dan_hunter
  14. Hi You are welcom to sweden for moose hunting. I actually don't hunt moose, because it is not easy to skin a moose I prefer small game and roe hunting. i send a picture to this site but it became 4 of them in the album . . moose hunting is very often like a team work here you need a tractor to move and lift the beast. average moose is more than 170 kilo after field dressing.!! but your 6,5x55 loaded with lapua mega is plenty for them . regards dan_hunter
  15. last summer we were shooting at long range (nearly 400 yards not measured but surely much moore than 300 meters) with a 6,5x55 on clay birds placed in a raw on the hilside. when we run out of ammo we used a 22 lr scope sighted with a 4x just for fun to see if it is possible to hit something at that distance . it was a sunny day with absolutly no wind and after a few rounds to evaluate the drop . the little 22 was able to break a few clay birds which was left on the grund at that distance it was amazing . this little round is capable of of many thing . dan_hunter sorry i am ge

  17. Hi which caliber and loadins is most popular for deer hunting in UK?. regards dan_hunter
  18. 410 slugs if your shotgun can shoot them well are plenty for fox . it will knock them down like Thor's hammer dan_hunter
  19. If you have only a 22 Lr rifle for hunting fox, then CCI velocitor will give you the best pentration and Remington yellow jacket can cause a reat tissue damage on fox . any other bullet can kill a fox if you hit them in the head. even a 22 short dan_hunter
  20. Hi John I don'tknow how to send pictures to the foum would you please tell me . how to do. regards dan_hunter
