i think you'll find in this game, there are always people less keen than yourself to get out, they talk a good hunting day in a crowd, but when i boils down to it they are not that interested, i have a few mates like that, all the best, jay.

cracking pics them....... -
your entitle to your opinion, but....... you obviously dont know how i opperate......... , i will openly admit, i'm not a numbers man, and just happy to be out doing my bit, and keeping the land i hunt over under control, i am more than capable of taking numbers, when needed, and with regards to carrying gear, i have drop, off points where i leave my rabbits, to pick up later, as i'm not in the upto date world of 4x4's and quads to carry my equipement and its not dead bunnies the dogs are after..... its the smell of fresh meat and blood and guts, as i said gut mine at the end of the day, ju

another good write up jai, lovelly area up there, a bit different to the ground you are used to working down here i should imagine, fair play you been doing a fair bit of travelling, cant fault it.......... all the best, jay.

always gut mine at the end of the day, they are cleaner to carry around that way, and not only that.......if the dogs get a whiff of them opened up, mine would rather be by your ankles waiting for a lick or a chew rather than hunting and looking for more rabbits, all the best, jay.

what a knob head i am........ just realised this topic is from 2006, , i'll blame it on a busy weekend, and the brain not functioning properly...........

you'll get your nets..... i have bought long nets from them in the past, and had no problems, i even sent 2 nets back up to them for repair, and they sorted them out and returned them with no problems, all the best, jay

i dont know sorry mate, if i were you, i'd have a little trip up there and have a walk around and perhaps have a chat to some of the anglers up there, they'll be able to give you all the information you need, cheers, jay.

i would'nt swear to it, but i think you can buy a day ticket for trout fishing up on the reservoirs on the left hand side as you go on to the brecon beacons, i think "llwyn on" is one of them, all the best, jay.

itchy feet on bushing staff

thats what i would say is the problem, cheers, jay. -
i have......., with the old type of collar from the mark 1, we just layed the ferret collar on top of a normal terrier sized collar and taped the whole collar to the terrier collar, with the newer type mark 3 which comes with a nylon type collar, you can buy spare nylon collars to fit a terrier, so i got myself 2 different sized collars and just took the transmitter off one collar and put it on the other, depending on which i needed to use, hope this makes sense........ all the best, jay.

i use privy partizan .222 ammo,50grain and bought some the other day, they cost £13 a box of 20, so should be around the same price for .223, as there's not alot of difference between the two calibres, i find this pretty good, all the best, jay.

here's another one that i took about 2 or 3 weeks ago while on my way up to a farm where i go ferreting, i stopped to look at some pheasants on the side of the road, and this little fella was on the opposite side of the road, tucked away, would have liked to get closer but think i would have startled him then, and i would not have got this photo then....... cheers, jay.

foxing calibers in between .17hmr and .223 rem?
jayjay replied to dogdown's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
.222 i use, and have taken plenty of foxes out at good ranges upto 200yds, i once paced one out that i shot , and it was 239 good paces, was very happy with that........ the ammunition i been using lately is privy partizan, my rifle seems to shoot well with these, and they are one of the cheaper range ammo, but fair play i get pretty good results,so i'm happy, all the best, jay. -
not a cross you see advertised....or not very often anyway, but i seen them working on the ratting dvd that is out, cant remember what its called now........ but fair play i liked them, and they looked well put together aswell, all the best in your search, cheers, jay.

jayjay replied to sky 09's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
some nice pics there mate....... happy hunting, all the best, jay. -
have you ever thought about off loading a few rabbits for a decent price to some of these reptile and snake shops, because i know if you find the right shop which keeps large snakes, thats what they feed some of them on....a mate of mine was exchanging rabbits that he'd caught while out with me, not gutted.....and in return he was getting rats for his snakes, all the best, jay.
-
i was down around newport indoor market about two year ago, and the price on a skinned and gutted rabbit was £4.50 then, and i was quite shocked at that price.........so its creeping up all the time.

i would'nt worry to much about the dog.... at the end of the day you spend alot of time out on your own, and you know the dogs capabilities, and he seems to put enough in the bag for you.......i'd be happy with him, so dont let the dogs reactions put you down when he's around strange dogs, they got feelings just like us........lol, and there are certain people in life that we dont like being around....lol all the best, jay.
