  2. I've got to be honest.......don't think I've seen any mixy this year yet, and my permissions seem clear of it so far......fingers crossed it doesn't show...... all the best, jay.

  7. yes, good crop this year, and as you say, nice and full, i went and got some last week, picked half a carrier bag in about 20 mins, all on the floor, and breaking out of the shells, all the best, jay.
  8. I use jojo wax for waterproofing and general care of my boots, I find it brilliant to be honest, its around £10 to £12 for a tub on ebay, or you can get it from Arthur carter, google it and there are a few other places you can buy it from, well worth the money I think, just my opinion, all the best, jay,
  9. to be honest jai.....if I was you i'd get her checked out by the vet, my bitch took an eye injury a few weeks back on a night out lamping, she got spiked in the eye by a blackthorn or bramble when she crashed the hedge after a rabbit......I didn't notice it for a day or two after, when the eye started to go blue, I was gutted.... then you could see quite a large ulcer on her eye, so took her to the vets, and after about 8 trips back and fore, the vets, and a few courses of different treatments, she is nearly fully fixed. took her out last night for the first time since she done it, hope it
  10. forgot to mention on earlier post.......last year ferreting I also had about 5 or 6 bluey coloured rabbits, but their fur seemed a different texture to normal wild rabbits, it was more whispey and longer looking, so either a throw back.....or someone had dropped some kind of pet rabbits in the area recently to that time, and obviously mated..... jay.
  11. yes that was another thing we did.....tape the lens up to try and tighten the beam, and I do remember the acid batteries rotting your clothes and the bag you carried them in....... we've come a fair way now I think, lighter lithium batteries, sealed lead acid batteries, and better lamps.......
  12. I was a bit to young to be lamping in the 70's....but. when I got into it, we used lr9 lamps which were modified with handles made out of copper pipe, and a doorbell switch and there was another lamp you could buy from argos or somewhere like that, it was a rectangle shape, didn't have a fancy name, wasn't the best either, but was ok just to get by, I also remember the nite tracker, I also modified a cibbie super Oscar rally car lamp, now that was a good lamp, with a very good tight beam on it.......now I use the lightforce striker, all the best, jay.
  13. had a few like this last year on one of my permissions, also had a black one........, and went to another area lamping one night, and caught another ginger one with bright blue eyes, quite a pretty looking thing it was....... all the best, jay.
  14. have a look on landmark ferret films website, or alternatively, you might be able to get a copy from someone on here........ all the best, jay.
  15. I do believe harrises have a natural dislike to dogs, I had a female and she hated my dogs, when flying free, she would come down low over the dogs. and strike them on the back, or on the head, some accept dogs and some don't, you just need to show her as much as possible from a young age, so that nothing comes as a shock to her, have her in such a position that she can see the dogs all the time, and hopefully she will accept them as part of your team, you get good ones and you get bad ones......... best of luck, jay.
  16. bad news this mate...... hope you get a result, and some feedback as to where they could be, can't see what people get out of taking another mans dogs...... i'd definitely say that its someone that knows the layout of the kennel setup...... even if it isn't personally them.......they have opened their mouths in the wrong place to the wrong sort...... all the very best of luck to you and your mates, jay.
  17. I wouldn't swear to it mate.........but i'm pretty sure keens in aberkenfig sells just the leather collar, or he used to..... give them a ring, worth a try, all the best, jay.
  18. I doubt he will look any different in another 15 years. I mean. How could he age any more?
  19. nice pups men..... good luck with them, I bought a pup off hancock around 14 or 15 year ago, same cross as the one your lad just got, and fairplay to the man, he must be having good living......he doesn't look a day older than the day I met him all those years ago, all the best, jay.
  20. alright people...... any recommendations on a good set of waterproof gaiters??? thanks in advance.... cheers, jay.
  21. I've tried a few knives over the years.......,got one of those mora frost knives, but its the one with stainless blade, not carbon steel blade, good knives, and can be thoroughly cleaned hygienically......., always leave that one in the house for meat preparation, but for out in the field, i always seem to go back to my opinels. all the best, jay.
  22. hes put it up then mate .thats a biggish jump as well a quid in a week .sorry about that . that's still a pretty good price mate.......I paid £13.50 for a sack today......, but it was only just up the road a few miles from where I live, so I probably still saved a few quid on fuel cost for travelling any further.
  23. didn't realise she sells it up there paul, that's nearer again....... all the best, jay
