  1. The best dry food on the market is Hills Science Plan. Quite a bit more expensive but worth every penny. My 7 year old lab bitch is fed on 24% protein during the game season and the "light" Hills diet during the spring/summer months. She looks and acts like a 3 year old and temperament, condition and general health is excellent. Stamina is also excellent and she will work all day long. Of course we all have our favourite brands and it is not easy to make the change, but I wouldn't use any other brand and certainly not tinned dog meat. I do accept that a lot of owners prefer raw and tho
  2. Bugger me - I can't even get the scope spec correct! Its not a 3-9 x 40 its a BSA Essencial 3-9 x 50. Sorry guys ... misled you there. Gotta pay more attention!!!
  3. Well . . . I took the plunge and went to see my local gundealer and incredibly he had an HW97K in stock. I bought it there and then together with a BSA Essencial 3-9x40 scope (recommended by the dealer) and some RWS Superdome pellets. When I got it home and zeroed the scope initially to 15 yards (thats all my back garden will safely allow) and within 20 minutes had consistent 1" groups - not bad I thought for a novice. Delighted so far - can't wait to zero it at 35-40 yards and see how well it (and I) will perform.
  4. Thanks all. I will give my local gunshop a visit and let you know the outcome.
  5. Thanks for the prompt replies. The matter of weight doesn't bother me too much as I am used to carrying a failry heavy trap gun during DTL/clay pigeon outings. The scope on the other hand - well, I haven't a clue as to what size of scope or reticule I should choose. My budget may extend to £60
  6. Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and also new to hunting with an air rifle. I'm hoping to buy a new air rifle for vermin/pest control and popping a few bunnies. I have a notion to buy a Weihrauch HW97K with as yet, an un-chosen scope. Can you experts advise me if the rifle is a good choice and what scope would be best suited to the task? Or indeed, what you would recommend as an alternative. Many thanks.
