looking for my first digging terrier
jpnixon replied to ceaser's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
wouldnt sell any dog that is 100% whats the point in rearing a dog to the point that you want and selling it, sometimes there are genuine reasons why fellas get rid of dogs but lets be honest if its doing the stuff then it will get kept in the circle its in and not sold for £500 lol shocking thats just boys looking for money nothing more -
think its abit silly to slate someone for the way he finished a dig on something that you have never dug or even seen in the fur, dont get me wrong i dont think working 2 dogs to ground is sensible but it was at the end of the dig has no-one ever showed a young dog a stop end before

jpnixon replied to budharley's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
if its good cover then yes you will get him there again, this is from experiance i have done cover and missed foxes and returned a week or two later and accounted for it, could of been a different fox but the fact that they are territorial would make me think same fox -

well then your a f*****g idiot there is some top lads on here who travel ALL over the country to hunt there quarry and in turn produce some quaility dogs. granted there are some clowns like yourself but i am sure the lad wouldnt sell to an idiot. -

think your a bit naive in what your saying pal if you think the guards dont give a shit your mistaken sure was it not like that in the north a few years ago when it was only philpot that was the only one banging on about it and now the psni are stopping any vehicle with a dog trailer and if you have terriers and digging tools your in trouble with them. now the lads that were there on the saturday there has been trouble with them before as they ran hounds trough cattle and the cattle went trough a barbed wire fence and you think it is alright just to go on a farmers land without knocking on hi

gobshite you talk alot of sense lad, but for christ ske change your username

had ago with one of them astro jobs, they work well when you read them right , I like the wee map function on them because it shows where the hound has run.
-
Just looking for views on springer cross hounds, have worked with them before, think they dont run on too much, good for thick cover also. Looking on views for this

are you for real crying about boys hunting ground without permission, lets be honest if the antis get their way no-one will have permission then sure you will be hunting without permission yourself, as long as fences are kept right and livestock not bothered digs filled in right i cant see how you can complain about anyone hunting ground but mybe its just me, any the guards dont really give a shit think about it.
-
as already said [bANNED TEXT] t-bar and listen you should always have a t-bar with you anyway and try and get yourself used to using that method because a collar can fail and if you dont know what to do your feck
-
horses for courses. IMO i think any workin terrier will have to take stick at some point, if they dont like the sharp end then you are definatly going to get a shifting match at some point. What i mean is if a fox wants to move and a terrier wont push him back then it will move but in saying that its really up to what you want yourself and as said before as long as the dog stays and isnt siting way of game then grand but i reackon the dogs not tested yet and you will have to wait and see. But thats just me atb

well done lads. the deep ones like that soon sort out who has the commitment haha
-
Same as above mate 3/4 or 5/8 is a very good all round dog will handle almost every situation you give it.
-
definately no foxes at that age mate and as one of the lads said get rid of ur mate an get outwith someone who knows what the are doing. Your mate hasnt got a clue, u can work away at the rats wit your dog for now but dont show him a fox until next season he should be mature enough than to start. Ye might hear of boys gettin dogs started at 6 months but that few and far between and just luck that they dont chuck it.
