OK so thats between 14 months old and 2 year. So what age where you starting your young stock before this for 10-15 years? well i was starting them at the same time but once they went i wasnt holding them back as much as i am going to in the future i "think" maybe i was doing too much too soon .........ill give it a go anyway see what the outcome is.......never too late to learn maybe it wont work in the way i am thinking but ill give it a go Its not the hoding back that needs to change then but your whole method of entering? well a weekend talking to some good dog lads has made me rethink what i have been doing for the last 10-15 years ..............somewhere between what pickaxe said and what socks said is where i will be from now on and darcy i tend to agree .........easy to enter easy to spoil yis fellman

Well i attended the welsh game fair at the weekend and have to say i enjoyed it immensley While having the craic with some of the lads there the subject of holding back terriers came up after listening to the guys and their reasons for doing it and for how long etc . i thought i would throw it on here and see what everyone elses ideas on the subject are ?? so tell me how long would you hole them back ? why would you hold them back ? best age to start them at "real work"? yis fellman

if your working fox only its sensible to break your dog to rabbit. its simple to do from pup. just chastise the pup when it shows interest in chaseing . and use a dead rabbit as well for the same reason be consistant and persivere once you enter the dog to rats and other small fry remember to reinforce the rabbit breaking. the dog will soon learn whats expected if your from the dumfries strnrare bit of scotland you should find plenty of rabbits to train your terrier wiht ..........either to hunt or not to hunt them id go for the latter ..........dug my bitch out a cpl of times on b

kye i was brought up on finger bobs ,banana splits,and the one where footprints appeared in the sand .........if your old enough you will know what i mean ............ we were happy with finger puppets ........kids today got loads fo stuff and have you seen the state of them?????????/ anyway knock a door run,cricket and footy games that lasted all day hide and seek ,fighting with the salford over spills .........my youth was great ............. yis fellman

originally from the lake district yes i "enjoy" my days with the fell packs if you call giving yourself a fecking stroke and feeling like your climbing everest enjoyable lol yeha i enjoy it maybe i missed the large terriers when i went????????? anyway all the terriers i see at the fell packs are much of a muchness ........small tidy and a assortment of breeds yis fellman

yeah wich packs? i have been out with a few fell packs and the terriers i have seen have all been small bolting terriers....... not just my opinion either there are plenty other lads on this site who will hav seen the same yis fellman
