Don't rush into any thing what i did was i bought a book, looked through old posts researched it ect and tryed it out with some local lads who had been doing it for years to make sure i enjoyed it Don't go and buy a load of gear i would reccomend a 4z net about a 50 yard net because there cheap and cheerful . next thing is it a quick set a traditional net your after? I'm a quick set fella myself but there more expensive for starting out hope this help atb t-r

Most of the old poachers guns are cheap but its all down to the condition because most folks back then would not bother cleaning them ect so they would rust the skeleton stocks would spilt is they where bumped about some farmers even used to leave them laid about in barns ect ect if you get one in immaculate condition they are wroth over £250 but they do have to be immaculate no rust no scrapes on the stock ect
  3. There just like hemp but they don't rot! and you can get them in all sorts of colours so you don't lose them
  4. Spun polyester nets are the best in my opinion I buy mine from John Hubery - dd timber products he sells good nets give him a pm

For sale Makita mitre saw not sure of age but in good working order 5inch cut Ideal for cutting long net poles, purse net pegs, snare and trap pegs or fire wood £25 or might swap for some traps or any field sports gear let me no what you have got!   6. sorry mate i should have put it better you cant by a gun at that age but a certificut houlder over the age of 18? "correct me if i'm wrong" can make a gift of a shot gun
  7. I Think so but I'm not 100%, one other thing you do know that you can't buy a shot gun you can only receive one as a gift at our age atb T-R
  8. Yeah go for it and buy a tractor to carry it while you on lol 10z will be very heavy but that's just my opinion because at the end of the day its each to there own

  10. I have a seeland coat nice coat but no to good when its poring down I noramly stick to to good old waxed Barbour jacket but each to there own
  11. I've been making my own for a while now its a hell of a lot cheaper than buying them, Drop John hubery a pm I buy all of my net making gear from him & he sells a good net making dvd and sells hemp and spun polly, needles ect , atb t-r
  12. Just as a mini long net but as close to the gate as I can get it but that's just my preference Because that's how i have been showed to use them,
  13. yes I have used it twice at night and the buggers don't half get tangle i highly recommend it But if your considering using it for a long net it could be quite heavy But at the end of the day its each to there own! Atb T-R

  15. this.... was at me mates farm and we where just leaving the yard and spotted it so we chucked the gear in it and off we went lol easer then carrying it!

  17. Well I've tryed the local paper shop, boots, ect ect but i cant find battery's for my 8ft collars!! so where the best place to buy them i don't mind if its online or a shop! any advice gratefully excepted! cheers T-R
  18. Hi, I would like to make a longnetters coat dose any one have any pictures of the inside of the coat so i can see what size and where to make the pockets ect.... Cheers lads T-R
