  1. You could get some hatching eggs, try 6. could get upto 6 hatch. So even if you had a small garden it is still possible and they are ready for the table in 10 to 15 weeks. Everyone who has the chance should try a go at home reared. It really does taste amazing.
  2. lol My daughter is the same, she'll fight me for the chicken skin, and well she's faster than me lol She's really looking forward to eating her first one. Couldn't stop laughing when after she had asked how I was gonna kill them and get the ready to eat and I told her and went through the whole process to oven ready for roasting. 'awe' was her reply 'whats up Alex?' 'I wanted Chicken curry, I like Chicken Curry.' I couldn't stop laughing, she's so sensible.
  3. They are Poulet Whites. I can get you the contact details if you'd like. I'm having to meet him at the motorway junction as he does deliveries every fortnight on a Thursday. Min order is 25 Chicks. They are bred to have strong legs to hold the weight and they are a very healthy strain. Over the last 6 months I have had nothing but good reviews of him and his birds. All depends where you are as to wether your on one of his delivery routes. I'm having to collect another 50 for a butcher in Nelson as he can't collect as he runs his shop so he's collecting from mine in the evening.
  4. It be because pepper is lethal??? lol was thinking if mustard seed would work? will try it out on the chicken livers. xx Laura
  5. have replied in other post and pm'd. I even got a qualification for high school on Killing, Plucking, and preparing a bird for the table lol
  6. first thing is have you tried rehoming any? I know I'd be happy to take a load and we have plenty of room. Surely some are just too nice to neck? You'll be needing that freezer for the meat from me lol second thing is. If you kill them yourself only very close family and friends are allowed by law to eat it and no money must change hands. Dispatching wise. Mnay methods but on a large scale you'll have to be carefull and also with it being council allotements that they don't pull a dirty and get RSPCA involved. Welders gas is apparently a very quick method which puts the chickens hi
  7. Just thinking what I could use instead of black pepper? mmmmmmmm
  8. The chicks were 80p each and eggs are 35p each Whats pushed towards it more is the rising cost of feeding my 4 year old son, who happens to be the same size as my 6 year old daughter and she's not short lol He's a live wire and constantly on the go and eating. He is far from fat but god he's strong lol He has Autisum aswell which sort of adds to his activity levels of a normal 4 year old 10 fold lol He eats as much as his dad, If not more lol Good job he likes eggs. He'll have 4 eggs on his own for his breakfast, then toast, cereal and a cup of tea!
  9. We have a varied Selection of poultry from our small flock of 11 layers to pure and rare breeds. We do eat the odd spare Cockeral but on our fancy and pure breeds you don't get much on them for the 25 weeks of growing lol certainly not with bantam breeds. So we decided to order some Meat bird Chicks of a very well known supplier who came very highly recomended. Got 25 meat chicks due tomorrow morning. Got the brooder all set up for them ready. And 24 meat bird eggs to go into the incubator. They will be free range once off heat and will be corn reared for that lovely golden skin. I can't
  10. little_ratcher1, Good as his word. Was here first thing for the meat. Hope your dogs love it, said it was nice pieces of very meaty bones lol The pups will love it! I have replied to all PM's. All I can say is I hate seeing stuff go to waste. I have been told I should sell it but I have no extra Freezers and fresh meat is very time sensitive lol I'd rather have lots of people with happy dogs than it have to go to the skip. Again tho, anyone wanting meat who has any Rabbiting/Ferret equipment they would like to offer me in kindness for the vast amount of meat I am more than h
  11. Couldn't not have met a nicer and truer couple. xx Lovely meeting you both. Your JR is a right sweet lass.

  12. Stunning, Absolutly stunning! No one has to be an expert to see how gorgeous she is. We had a Pere in our garden couple of months ago. Morning after a very bad storm. Dogs had a load of Lamb and they were inside and he popped down and took a piece. Must have needed a quick feed after the storm the night before. but he was welcome to have it. To be honest, if any bird of prey swooped down and took one of my chucks, I'd be well, not pleased, but I'd rather a hawk take one than anything else. They have so much skill and beauty and I'd be camera ready lol
  13. Erm, No, I swear Officer! Where did you hear that? Well if you saw me with saw in hand, Sawing huge sides of Beef ribs apart to more manageable sizes for people, You'd think that aswell. Hubby has commented many times on how well I could dispose of bodies with the speed I saw through lol
  14. so, if someone would like some but maybe not this time, feel free to pm and I can let you know when I get my next delivery.
  15. I do get this almost weekly so every time I have more than I need I will post on here to let everyone know. So it really isn't a problem. Best thing is knowing it is not going to waste. Got 2 crates of Beef and 6 of Lamb (about 20 to 30 kg a crate)
  16. Just had a nice big delivery of breast of lamb and Beef marrow bones. I'm in Middleton, in Manchester. Bring a nice big binbag or dog food sack. must be collected this evening or tomorrow morning. All fresh meat direct from meatman. Before anyone asks why it is free and why so much. Well, in order for me to get it for free myself, I have to take what he brings, be it 4 crates or in one case 40 crates. It is on a first come first serve. Only thing that suffers is my damaged spine so be nice please, I am doing this for the love of dogs so all I ask is that at the very least you are poli
  17. Bless, Bet your proud of him. With that focus he's gonna make a wonderful adult hunting companion.
  18. EEEEE bless I should have known you were one of those lol Well I'm happy with mine thats all I can say, but then again there are those who think that every lurcher is a born murderer. I keep my Rose jaded glasses in a box nowadays, purely to look back to a time when I didn't have a clue either.
  19. well, it's the retard breeders who do it for money not the breed who cause that. and the 106 hipscore? ain't that a Utonagan? think it is. I'd stop talking out yer arse and get proper facts not blind one sided ones. I belong to no society, as they are just in it for money and power.
  20. Nothing tonight. Might have been because there had been a fox around. Turkey body near to the farm and another that must have been dragged across the field judging by the feather trail. Keano did take a serious interest in the rabbit smell around, he was hunting round everywhere for them so could well be hope for him. Think it'll be a case of going out a various times to gauge when it is best really, trial and error until we get it right and hubby says we need a far longer net. lol
  21. Well mine have been brought up around them, fantastic with horses. They have tended to completely ignore cattle not worth it as mine have been well told 'cows are bloody dangerous' in no uncertain terms lol It's all down to how well they are socilised. I know some how never bothered (the idiot owners I like to call them) and yes they can be a worry around them. Mine have been trained well enough not to. The one, and only time they got out, not long after moving here, fence broke after branch broke on the tree. Didn't see as it was down the bottom of the garden. Welll, field full of sheep a
