The Blues will have been layed by the Araucanas (or if they have legbars they lay blue/green aswell), Light sussex lay the pinkie coloured egg. The 2 browner eggs are likely to be welsummer, the darker of the 2 maybe a maran egg. And the white will be from the leghorn.

Eggs for incubating should be as fresh as possible. But eggs can be upto 14 days old and still be viable aslong as they have been turned twice a day. If come through the post allow eggs to settle for 24 hours before Incubating. Hens eggs take 21 days to hatch, ducks and turkeys 28 days apart from call ducks at 26 days and muscovy ducks at 35 days. Depending on the breed, some are Autosexing like legbars and Dorkings, where upon hatching you can tell from the markings what is what, some you'll have to wait til around 8 to 10 weeks to know and silkies, well 6 months and wait til they crow o

Lovely looking bitch. We lost our last GSD to cancer last April. She was 14. Not time for me to have another GSD just yet or I'd have been interested. A well trained GSD is a delight to live with. Our bitch was perfect with children but could stop an intruder without blinking. We trusted her with our lives.

It's a great feeling knowing that you reared them, knowing what they have eaten and they have had a natural free range life before hand which will mean they taste 10 x's better. -
I'll try and make sure that everyone who has asked will get some. Hopefully I can provide you all with the larger amounts making it worth your petrol/deisel costs. Like I said, because I currently only have my own chest freezer, it must be collected as soon after it's been dropped off by the meat man as possible and since as I'm a night person, any time upto very late at night is fine by me. lol Just as it is summer (? lol) it will go off, atract flies etc so late night collections or first thing in the morning are the best really. And as I said free just be nice lol and help me pack you

Thank you. She's currently asleep by my feet with my hubby's staffie x collie. She has been like a shadow lol She was fantastic with the horses when we went to see my pony this morning. She had a run around the top of the field and came back each time she was called, quickly and bouncing with happiness bless. Hubby has warmed to her aswell but that was because he was asleep on the sofa and she stood up on him and had her nose near his mouth like she was checking he was breathing, he snored, she snuffed and got down lol -

I'm 99.9% convinced she's an ESS not a WSS. This link will give you some idea http://www.wssc.fsnet.co.uk/ She sounds like she has a lovely temprement, a pity for any dog to be on her 3rd home in two years, and to have already had a litter of puppies too. I personally wouldn't breed from her, but get her spayed; if there is the slightest doubt over what she is or her breed type then it would just be irresponsable. If you don't know for sure if she is WSS or ESS, how do you know she is "true to her breed type"? I'm sure a loving home where she will be exercised, worked and trained, ei -

Either way english or welsh she's a lovely dog lol We are planning to work her as she is true to her breed type. She is lovely with the children. Booked in to the vets on Monday. But health wise she is spot on. -

Took some more pictures of her. But she is hard to take pictures of and involved a hell of a lot of treats and a clicker (started her clicker training). -
Well, Yesterday, in my freecycle emails was one offering a Springer Spaniel bitch. Without hubby knowing I emailed. Then got an email back and a phone number. Rang the lady, was only a 15mins walk. Decided it was worth the walk. Well, to me I think it was. She is a liver and white 2 year old bitch who has had a litter a few months ago of 11 pups. She had lost the breeders details so I have no idea of her breeding. The lady couldn't cope as she was apparently crying all day while she is at work (I'm home all day so it is not an Issue to me). I have the word out to try and get more info on he

Picked up 21 chicks and 30 eggs. small orders are filled from extras they hatch and he had 21 available so he put in 6 extra eggs. They are proper cute fluffy balls lol In next to no time they will be huge! lol All settled into the brooder now. get some piccies on in a bit -
It all comes down to what breed you fancy. some breeds like Orpingtons are heavey weights so only need a 3 ft fence but others like Campines are flighty types who like to sleep in trees so wing clipping and a 5 or 6 ft fence. But wings clipped does reduce the height they can get to. with wings clipped not one of mine has gone over the 5 ft fence, without they just flew over. They are great at keeping slugs down on veg p[atches but wait til your veg is established first as they will stratch up seedlings in their slug quest.

I can say with honesty that River Cottage Changed my City born and bred Hubby. His taste in foods changed, his meat eating attitude changed. Even moving heaven and earth to get us moved from the crap area in Oldham to where we are now. Rearing own own food and growing our own veg. I'm over the moon cause it's how I've always wanted to live.

one of the reasons we made sure we bought freehold. some lease holds have a poultry clause in that says you can't have any. I'm lucky, even the neighbours like mine, but that might be the free eggs.

Well, some great utility breeds. slower growing but certainly very flavoursome. Dorkings are good, Indian Game, Orpingtons but they are really slow and eat like bins. I'm planning to keep a few females and crossing them to a silver dorking cockeral to try my own meat cross. Light Sussex Utility Strain, slow growers but good meat birds. Some less known breeds Lincolnshire Buffs, Norfolk Greys are good utility breeds, not very well known as rare. Got 1 linc buff and a trio of norfolk greys. only 4 weeks old at the mo. -

Well, I'm not only rearing these for me. 5 are a birthday prezzie for my friend who lives in rented so can't do it herself until she moves. and I'm the eldest of 6 so big family and all are having a couple each. The rest will be going in the freezer, for when we need to use them. We are growing out veg aswell to go with them, already got my fruit trees showing promise of a good crop even after having moved house with them in winter lol
