  4. Just went out to lock up the ferts for the night. My jill with the kits was lying flat out in the eating area of her hutch. She often lies there to get a break from the kits, anyway i always give a whistle and she responds. Not a thing tonight/OPened up the hutch and gave her a wee nudge NOTHING! I was like oh no she has died!I was sweating like a jew on a freight train. However she jumped up after a bit and was back to normal.I was a gratefull lad let me tell you.I would have no idea how to rear 14 month old kits I guess ferts go into deep sleeps as do humans lol
  5. I wouldnt mate just get your uncle to giv her a jab.Be kinder to give her a rest this season, she will be fresh for next year.Hope this helps.
  6. If the jill is as you say and letting you near her and kits without freaking out then she should be ok.Im not sure exactly what you mean. Are the kits inside or outside at the momment? They really dont need a lot of room just now the jill wont stray to far from her babies.I would suggest if the current housing is not a hassle and is nice and warm draught proof then i would leave them where they are for the time being. They will soon be crawling about looking for meat, then you could move them to a bigger abode mate.Hope this helps. cheers she is in the garage in a plastic rabbit cage is hap
  7. Hope you get them back mate, the people who stole them are pure scum!

  12. Mines are 3wks 4days still not opened their eyes but some vary as for feeding well the mother will wean them off.Mines have been eating fresh meat for a week now.Shouldnt worry to much about the water just now.As long as the jill has acess to fresh water.Good luck in the rearing.

  16. It really annoys me kay, when someone who just moves into an area then starts throwing around unfounded rubbish.I realise now how the country people get pissed off with townies. She really does'nt want to start a feud with me i dont react well in these kind of situations
  17. I have a new neighbour moved in before xmas.Never had a prob with any of my neighbours in all the years i have lived here.Anyway today she calls over the fence to me.She has a JRT which incidentally is my least fav dog.Since the kits have arrived this f*****g pot licker has been going crazy barking and generally just going mental. She says i think there may be a rat in that hedge i said there would be no chance of that and explained it would be the kits her dog can hear. The look on her face when i mentioned ferrets was priceless.Oh you cant keep ferrets here she said, they can escape and attack
  18. Well it has never done mine any harm in all the years i have fed them mate.Im sure there will be others who will say try and pick the shot out.I have neither the time nor patience for such nonsense.

  21. I can remember an old fella telling my Dad 45 years ago that the person who introduced myxi into this country ought to have been horsewhipped. Terrible disease. Someone told me it was a german woman who 1st discovered this henious disease.I know this to be true of barbed wire. However im not so sure about mixi.Maybe someone knows?
