  5. Who taught you to count.... I only missed one lol! It was a good night, and I find it very rewarding to help the older generation out and let you see the marvels of modern technology such as NV and light bulbs! . More than happy to sort out your lamp shy foxes anytime you want, and as Xmas is imminent I can feel an excuse to spend a little cash on a digital NV monocular so you won't be quite as bored.
  6. If you are putting out decoys buy a couple of the battery powered pecking decoys to add a bit of realistic movement to the pattern, I also bought a couple of crow decoys which I put about 30ft away from the rest of the pattern to act as confidence decoys. I do have a rotary decoy but to be honest yes it does work but I have just as much success without it. Good luck.
  7. A good few bunnies for the game dealer.
  8. Like the guys have suggested you have done what is sensible so far without success so the only practical method left is a .22 rimfire with a moderator. There won't be many people about at 2am in the morning. If they won't let you use it the walk away from the job, it will be their problem!
  9. In my opinion I wouldn't buy one second hand because the barrel may been worn out. Go for 8X56 scope the best you can afford.
  10. How much does it cost you guys over the water?
  11. Check this out on the basc website : BASC A lot to it, not quite sure whether it is or isn't lol, even after reading it!
  12. Great read, sound like a fun night was had. It is always the way that you can pull off the long distance difficult shots but when the buggers jump out 30 yards in front you just miss (even though in your mind you compensated for the distance and aimed low!). You spend the next few hours cursing yourself lol! It won't be the last time either!
  13. When I went out with hilux I saw this in action and I must say I was quite impressed how it worked.
  14. If you do decide to go down the baiting route, also try a tin of lovely smelly sardines (35p from Tesco's lol!). You can try leaving a trail form the oil and then smear them up gateposts.telegraph poles, in a crack in a wall or just leave in the middle of a field (I think you get the idea). Usually handy to have some cheap latex gloves to stop your hands from stinking though.
  15. I agree, you are better off making a bait station, the smell of the bait will attract the fox more likely than the rabbit.
  16. Looks like the makings of a good game pie there! (obviously I don't mean the fecking fox before some smart ass jumps in! lol!). Decent looking fox too. ps Love the face camo!
  17. I second that,I had to wait a few months and even then when I applied for a 22-250 and .270 , I got knocked back for the .270 because I hadn't actually been and done any deer shooting for which I was applying to use it for.
  18. Went out last night as it was the first semi-decent night since Monday.....but it still managed to be blowing a gale and rain on and off. I was just glad to out and about really. After a couple of hours we finally spotted (using the NV) a set of eyes behind the chicken shed on the passenger side of the pick-up. I was waiting for Jamie to take a shot from the passenger side window but he couldn't get a good angle because of the gate, so he passed the rifle to me and I got out the drivers side quietly enough it didn't spook it and got a good angle standing on the side sills leaning across the ro
  19. Were they dogs or vixens? I bet the .308 did some damage, just hope you had a good backstop behind it lol! The good thing about farms with chickens is that you never run out of foxes to shoot. Happy hunting fella.
  20. Have you done anything about it yet? We are all keen to hear the outcome!
  21. Remember to upload a photo so we can all have look at your new bit of kit.
  22. I have one and they are a good call which I would rate quite highly, just bear in mind that it doesn't work all the time on every fox, you do need other calls in your kit.
