  1. what does banter mean? dont think that word is used on thedog forums,is it just for the self proclaimed experts on the rifle section You also find their grasp of grammar is also difficult to understand ie 'thedog' should actually be spelt 'the dog'
  2. Great to see some intelligent banter on this forum.... if you go on the dog forums half of them can't even spell the word 'banter' lol!
  3. Can't go far wrong with 32g Fibre Wad 6's.
  4. I have a Howa 1500 in 22-250 with the heavy barrel, it is my first CF rifle and I think it does the job for me (ie foxing) if you want to have a shot with it to see if you like them then let me know.
  5. Nice shooting . Even more snow due tonight lol! ~We will need to go out this week in your motor as mine sticks out like a sore thumb with all this snow! Saw a few foxes last night...we need to get them, I let Jamie take a shot last night and he missed .
  6. I guess your next question will be 'Has anyone used a .410 in the house to kill spiders' lol!
  7. You need to fill in the whole form but you don't need to do the referee thing unless it's an actual renewal of the FAC. If you can show that you are likely to be invited onto other land then I can't see why they wouldn't open up the condition on your FAC - clearly you are already doing a lot of shooting so it's reasonable that you would want to shoot at other places too. Personally speaking, I think this business of only allowing you to shoot on a single piece of land is ridiculous. You are either safe to be entrusted with a firearm or you aren't. Why does it matter what piece of land you
  8. SGC is likely to be issued first as the process is not as scrutinized as much as FAC. In my opinion, I would not bother with FAC air and just by a .22lr, If you want an air rifle I would simply have a 12ft/lb air rifle and a .22lr (which is good on rabbits upto yards without much effort after that you really need to know your holdover etc to be popping bunnies off at 100 yards). Most people I know sight their .22lr in for 60 yards. I haven't used a .17 HMR (but if anyone is offering I would like a go lol!), the range is far better but they mash the rabbit up so I hear, which is not ideal if y
  9. Great write up sounds like a good night in my book, you should get a few more before the carcass is lifted hopefully. I was out last night and saw jack sh*t ..... mind you it was -14C !
  10. Well guys this has been an interesting topic and I will leave it at that .... so I hope everyone has a good Xmas whatever you are doing just be careful what you post on a public forum lol you never know who is watching !
  11. Great results! I am off out later on hoping to get at least one tonight, so heres hoping.
  12. Sounds like an interesting night! I hope you don't get any more bother. Really annoy them by being ever so nice next time lol!
  13. I know Hiluxmk3 would like a new fuel pump fitted to his hilux lol! Personally I would like Santa to make all the foxes head to my permissions for me to take care off!
  14. If the shoot insisted on tradition then I would concede that you should oblige......and use it as a great opportunity to explain to the wife you have to go and buy another shotgun !
  15. Their argument is flawed: 1. You could agree to only load your semi-auto with two shots...that makes it fair! 2. You can easily buy one of those flag 'things' to stick in the breech.... then all will know it is unloaded! 3. Etiquette and tradition are important but so is survival of business, given the present economic freefall I don't imagine all shoots have the luxury about refusing peoples cash for the sake of tradition. This is only my opinion.....if people can't move with the times then they get left behind ....basic evolution.!
  16. Didn't realise how many there were lol! Maybe go and have a mooch about them after Xmas
  17. The point I am trying to really make is this is a public forum and some people are doing more harm to the forum than help it by bragging about being poachers. That is it in a nutshell. If people are not clever enough to understand that bragging about carrying out illegal activities on the web is pretty dim then they that shows there own lack of intelligence. I am not a copper and do not work for the rspca, but if by 'us' I presume you mean illegal poachers then that would be in general yes! lol! but as far as you as an individual goes I don't know because I have never met you, so don't take
  18. i dont care if people want to poach then fair play to them, lets not pretend that everyone on here is keeping within the law some people cant get permission so what are they ment to do sit indoors going off there heads because they cant go out and i expect alot of people in the city will know someone who has got permission I also imagine that by your logic if you can't afford to buy a car or buy expensive clothes then stealing them instead of sitting at home is ok in your book
  19. If I am just wanting rifle ammo then Dickson McNaughton in Edinburgh. For shotgun cartridges you can try the Cartridge Warehouse in Edinburgh. If it is for other stuff then Neil Sutherlands place (www.pro-shooting.co.uk) over on the old glasgow road near to Stewarton, bit if a trek for me but better than a lot of other people that I have dealt with.
  20. well said just because you live in the city does nt mean the you cant enjoy country sports and if you are willing to travel 150 miles to do it just shows how commited you are and you are right it is cheaper to go down the shops Ian, nobody is saying that people in the city can't enjoy country sports, but surely you agree that it should be done legally?
