  1. Don't know if you already know this already, if you want to get more permission then try seeing what farms are local to you that have started lambing. Farmers often have problems with crows going for lambs and pecking at their eyes, so maybe now is a good time to approach them as you have a good reason. It won't be long now until the young crows start hatching/appearing (depends what part of the country you are from - up here it is then end of April'ish) excellent airgun practice. The young always stay close to the nests until they are a bit stronger. Hope this helps.
  2. Work by day and shoot by night!!

  3. It always comes good in the end......two years from now and you will be complaining that you have too much land and that you don't have enough time to get around it all ! I just picked up another 800+ acres for foxing last week.....so thats 5 farms and a golf course.. must be in the region of 4000 acres.....the wife already moans like hell lol! Good luck to you.
  4. Try sending a PM to Claybuser al (yes he did spell it wrong!...it was meant to be claybuster al!) Alan use to run a clay shoot and knows his stuff.
  5. Glad to hear it worked out aok in the end. Mind you when you try to read the Section 47 & 48 stuff I can understand how difficult it is to interpret whether you should or shouldn't have to carry your license and you can imagine the shit that the cops would be in if they stopped someone and let them go when they shouldn't.... I guess what it comes down to is how they handled it....ie were they being arrogant arses or could have explained politely that given the circumstances it was something that would have to be checked and rectified in the morning and apologise for having to remove the r
  6. Nice write up and result by the sounds of it. Its getting better now the the weather is getting bearable to be walking around without getting frostbite!
  7. Went out lamping foxes last night on a new permission but the pain in the ass is the fact that a lot of this land needs walked and my CB2 Clubman runs off a 12v 7amp/hr battery and lasts about an hour, anyone know of where I can pick up a lithium ion battery that would is compatible..... I would prefer not to have to cut off the jack plug connector as I need it for plugging into the extension cable that then plugs into my cigarette plug. Anyhow here is the dog fox we got.....240 paces so I guess about 210 yards.
  8. Put some bait out for him a couple of nights before you plan your ambush, they are creatures of habit. Buy a packet of liver (less than a £1) and leave it out in the same spot, it will always enjoy a free and easy meal, then on the third night all you need to do is sit tight and be patient and hope the stench of the liver is stronger than your scent (not being cheeky... you know what I mean). Also apply for your FAC as if their are chickens about, this will not be a one off, foxes will move into an area that has a supply of juicy tender chickens. Happy hunting and don't forget to pu
  9. Far better to live in Scotland...far less hassle!
  10. I use my .22lr for bunnies so I would be perfectly happy with that kind of grouping.
  11. How long have your been shooting centrefire and what calibres do you already have?
  12. Never heard of that before. What did it look like after it had gone off - did the bras split or had the bullet just separated from the case? J. Didn't look much to be honest the case had just seperated from the bullet!
  13. Outstanding 1st picture, what distance was it shot?
  14. Ah but Mythbusters failed to get one to go off by using it as a car fuse so it can't happen, it's official! I ain't no expert is these matters... mythbusters or no mythbusters .....it was a fecking loud bang and it was very real indeed!
  15. Was heading out to do some shooting last night and I had just driven a few hundred yards from the house and there was an almighty bang in the car ...talk about making me jump I nearly sh*t my pants lol! I pulled over quickly and tried to think what the feck had happened. I checked in my pocket and found that I had a .22lr round in my pocket that some how had discharged I am assuming because the contacts of the battery cradle that holds 6X AA batteries for my Yukon Ranger had somehow came into contact and set it off. Thank feck I didn't have any 22-250 rounds in my pocket!
  16. It was a waste of time...nothing worth buying not a rifle or shotgun in sight!!! Won't be back there in a hurry
  17. If you know any poor and needey that eat want to eat dead foxes then let me know
  18. To answer your question, yes, but don't keep it on for too long. Better to sight it in at night. At night you could use try putting a few candles in a box and putting a target on the box (some targets are better than others) and when you shoot you should see the light coming through the holes you shot. Another way would be to set up the target and if there is not quite enough light for you to see the centre of the target just use a pen torch to stick in the ground in front of it to illuminate it (this won't harm your NV as it is not directed to the NV). Hope this helps.
