  1. Not sure if it is my long term memory is letting me down but it feels like this year the branchlings are later this year...well at least up here in Scotland. Or is it just me ?
  2. Well done. My tip is next time you are out shooting rabbits freeze a couple to put out as bait. Before you next go crow shooting let them thaw out split them wide open put a pecking crow decoy next to it and watch the results!
  3. Got this of wikipedia : The 5.56 mm NATO and .223 Remington cartridges and chamberings are similar but not identical. Military cases are generally made from thicker brass than commercial cases; this reduces the powder capacity (an important consideration for handloaders[12]), and the NATO specification allows a higher chamber pressure. NATO EPVAT test barrels made for 5.56 mm NATO measure chamber pressure at the case mouth, as opposed to the location used by the United States civil standards organization SAAMI. The piezoelectric sensors or transducers NATO and SAAMI use to conduct the actu
  4. ....don't really understand your point ! It is pest control not a sport so why does it matter whether you shoot or gas em? In my opinion shooting them is more humane.
  5. Outstanding effort ! I would be well chuffed with that
  6. If anyone from the UK had done something offensive like that in a muslim country they would have thrown away the keys ! just shows how up the UK really is.
  7. That's smart . How much did it cost you?
  8. Maybe it would be better if we put the party leaders on Britains Got Talent and let the Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden decide.....now that would be intersting lol !
  9. Emailed BASC with the repsonses I received and they haven#t updated it yet ...after a week!)
  10. I have not long just started out myself so hopefully this will help : Where To Buy: If you are buying online try having a look at Reloading Solutions or Midway Uk Have alook on youtube.....loads of videos on reloading you will learn loads Equipment & Cost: This is the list/comments/prices I got from the guy I used : Dies. Normally recommend and stock Lee collet dies for thoses reoalding only there own cases for re-use in their own rifle. These dies neck-size only and give excellent accuracy and case life. If you are going with a single stage press I'd recommend re
  11. Headed out the other night down to one of the farms we hadn't been down to for a week or so (on the previous two occasions we hadn't even seen a fox, so we thougth we would give it a miss for a while). Anyway, we arrived at the farm and right in the field as we were pulling up to the outbuildings a fox caught the headlights and bolted as fast as it could into the woods, we never even had chance to get the lamp on it . We then headed round to the fields at the back of the farmhouse and managed to get a few bunnies with the .22lr when I picked up a coupld of sets of orange eyes that suddenly d
  12. How di you get on ......did you buy any NV ?
  13. Only go for 6.5x55 if you are going to home load or can afford nearly £2 per round . I just got one and it nearly cost £40 to shoot the barrel in lol! Like it though just haven't tried it on a fox yet.
  14. For foxing I like my 22-250 a very flat trajectory not so loopy as a .243 and you can use it on Roe deer in Scotland (subject to certain ballstic requirements). But I have to admit that .243 is probablly more suited as an all-round calibre.
  15. Well done, good shooting for a guy your age, difficult to get a steady shot off a zimmer frame
  16. Sounds like a good night, well done.
  17. That arron is a very good question my freind never seen any thing like it befor. Andy It is fairly old now It is about 13 yrs old but it was the dogs nutz in its time lol. It is a Skan Swift .22, here is a bit of info on them I dug out : · The mainframe is precision machined anodized black aluminium , together with laser and water cut steel parts zinc blacked instead of being blued and handcrafted English walnut furniture. · The design incorporates an integral 14 shot magazine. The magazine itself is located on the upper left side of the action. Pellets are pre-
  18. As long as you are supervising your pal yes he can use and carry your rifle.
  19. Hit the nail on the head ! i would rather adopt the US system than use ours
  20. Bit of a change for me as the farmer has asked us to get rid of some rats for him, so I have swapped my NV off my centrefire rifle onto my air rifle : If anyone has any tips on ratting with NV feel free to let me know any do's and don'ts, baits etc.
  21. I have shot a few hare for the pot in the past and no doubt will again in the future so I guess I had to vote yes. To put it in perspective I will shoot maybe four in a year and not in a fashion to damage their population where I shoot them.
  22. Is the 450ir a laser IR? If not I imagine it would be worthwhile you spending the extra £100-£130 to get one it will improve the range and clarity far more than a non laser IR.
  23. If that is all you kind afford! You would still need a IR laser illuminator. If you can afford it better to go Gen 2.
