  1. Yep from a window - I have no choice as I dont have permissions and the birds wont land in the garden If im in it as no cover. I quite abit garden for a built up area tho. About 40 yards long Im aiming for the top of the chest/back and hitting that area as I have practised on paper targets (of big birds)
  2. nah downwards actually. Clean kills though
  3. I used to go for head shots and watch these buggers fly off but now I aim for the back of the chest area. Straight down and no twitching. I have to admit I dont like touching them once they are dead tho lol. AIM FOR THE BACK OF THE CHEST AREA. good luck
  4. I was having that problem shooting pigeons so I got a picture of a magpie blow it up and printed it off. 30 yards out and 9/10 are chest and head shots. Maybe you should try the same with the bunnys??
  5. Well thanks for all the helpful input! Im shooting at 30 yards at the moment So I guess the next step is to go out abit further.

  10. Yep had my rifle for a week now. But I would like to know my limitations on how far my hobby can go! As I was told that only people registered with the ministry can shoot deer! My bsa is certainly not powerful enough though I would love something with abit more whack.
  11. I know that I am not allowed but say I had my fac and a decent rifle. What else is stopping me and what would I have to do in order to be legal to shoot deer. I dont intend on shooting deer im just curious as to the answers. Thanks
  12. Indeed I am and none taken. Just here to learn. Off to the gun club sunday though. mays of london any one else know it?
  13. Rimfire ammo is available from around 30ft lb to around 325ft lb with 4 different main calibres/types these days! How do you know you are getting 12ft lb with your BSA Comet? There are a couple of people who would have been very helpful to you, went by the names of Wingshooter and Guevara but I haven't seen them for a while! Thats what my local gunshop told me when I bought it last week. I need more power now though lol
  14. In terms of power - Im geting 12lb foot with my bsa comet but what kind of power is the average rimfire pushing out?
  15. sorry I should have been more specific. Gamekeeping Vermin control
  16. Hey guys, I was wondering how people get into this job shooting for a living and what the money was like. Any info would be great thanks
  17. would using 17 HMR cal be overkill for pigeons and crows? People talk of short and long ranges but would the 17hmr be good for 100 yards with foxes
  18. great reply and I feel like I have learned loads already. ""In England and Wales rifles must be at least .240 inches in calibre. The bullet must be expanding/hollow nosed with a muzzle energy of at least 1,700 ft/lbs."" From the met police website. I didnt realise that rifles could be so powerul wow. I imagine they are crazy prices.
  19. Cheers - so what kind of power should I be looking at to stop foxes? Also My rifle is a spring at the moment but it moves abit when I pull the trigger and I would rather it didnt move as much what could some body recommend. Price range upto around £300
  20. Am I right in thinking that a fac rifle is just one that needs a license to use? How do they operate and what kind of power can they output?
  21. I just killed my first magpie! - I though I would leave it in the open and attract more but that does not seem to be working! any tips?
  22. yeah I will keep at it for sure im going to try aiming lower. top of the chest. Enjoy the stellla I would be on my back after 6 drinking at home. lol
  23. It means I dont intend on harming them with-out killing them instantly. I want to kill them 100% in the first shot. Yeah they move around a fair bit! It will make my day when I get one. It actually landed next to another dead bird i left the magpie was investigating but flew off with a nice pellet in side it.
