    brains in my case when putting really fast breed against quarry in past,, if i had a dog that went in ( no guts no glory ),,,,,i put back on lead as,,its too dangerous,,,they have show abit of savvy,,or it will mean huge vet bills,,,,and it aint cheap,,,,,i know i put on other post can a dog be too fast,,my answer was YES,(GOT THE BLOOD T,SHIRT TWICE ),as many dog men before me have,,, which could include some off the fastest lurchers,,,as ive seen really fast ones but thats only in my case,,,,were i see brains inportant to me , due to the speed,,they can achive,,,not everyones ca

    the starter motor,,has to be a certain type,,,,,( now here,s one for the mahnic,s on here,,,cause i cant remember which is which,,,,,non pre incanged?? starter or pre incanged ??? mine was out an old landrover,,,easyier to fix on to spool,,,,( not sure if both types ,,,nowadays can be fixed on to spool?,,we just used old type off starter from older cars e,t,c,,,cause thats the way we did our 1st one hope that helps,,,,guys,,,,they dont cost much to build,,,,dearest part if u have to buy it new is the battery,,,and off course the battary charger if u dont have one,,,,few years back st

    (so the lure machine is sitting at side )--- u build a spindle,,,,usally use the centre off a bike wheel,(i think thats called a spindle also ?),,attach it to metal pin,,, or go for cheaper option,,,use pegg with circler head (decent size as it takes abit off strain and need to be well pegged into ground),,,put string threw there,,,,and have couple off smaller ones coming off the spool,,,,helps to feed string on spool,,,save,s alot off tangling if unable to use a spindle,,,,people just make sure they stop lure,,,plenty off time before lure machine, best thing if there,s a trac

    i just relised u meant ,,,guys wooden frame,,,,not the wood i use in spool sorry mike ok here,s a picture,s of my one ,,,,all i did is get a blacksmith to make a frame and bolt starter to frame ,,,think he took a tenner for doing so few years back hope that gives u idea,s in building,,,reson we keep them small,,,they fit in car better if iam going anywhere ,,,

    i race dogs mate,,,,last one lasted 25 years,,, i must addmit looks rough,,,but it works,,, one at our club,,,i think it was a blacksmith job,,look,s better,,,,both lures been used at club,,,,( as long as there secure,,,and starter,s end is bang in the middle off spool,,thats the real important part,,,or lure will vibrate too much,,,

    here,s a pick off my spool,,,,spool from building site,,sparkys usally have them,,,,one of my family did this spool just used wotever came to hand in this case wood,,,i screwed a couple screws from the spool to wood just to make it abit more secure,,,( some lures are done diffrent,,but as long as it works mate and secure,,,thats all that matter,s here,s picture off spool attach to end off starter

    POLICE I GIVE THEM THERE DUES,,,,I WAS CAUGHT IN NOVEMBER,,,,FILCKED ON LAMP AND THERE WAS 3 POLICE OFFICER,S STANDING ROUND ME 100YARDS APART,,,WITH A POLICE GERMAN SHEPERD AND POLICE SPANEIL,,,,I 1ST I THOUGHT RUN,,,,BUT WITH THE GERMAN SHEPERD, I THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE SILLY AS IT WILL CATCH ME AND TARE ME TO BITS LOL TURNED OUT THEY WERE LOKKING FOR A GUY ,,,WHO WAS TRING TO KILL HIMSELF,,,SO WE TAGGED ALONG TO HELP WITH OR LAMPS,,,,AND AFTERWARDS ON WAY BACK WE STARTED LAMPING AGAIN ,,AS POLICE WERE GOING BACK TO THERE MOTORS,,,,THEY STOOD THERE LETTING US LAMP,,THINKING THAT LOOKS FUN

    at 1st i thought it was the painting that sold for that but i somtimes go on greyhound data base for a wee look at old photo,s and the miss glendyne,,,,stat,s were---Won Waterloo Cup 1886, runner up Penelope II . Sold in 1888 for £535.10s. i seen another,,,coursing grehound bitch that won, 62 out off 67 courses,,,,must have been some bitch not came across any prints off them chasing,,,but i bet there a few on there,,,worth alook guy,s,,if u like seeing pic,s off old coursing greys,,,some have a story to them,,but there too small to print on here,,but can be read on

    disagree ,you say dogs cant learn to be clever \i say they can ,and run how you teach them SO U HAVE A DOG THAT RUNS 100% FLAT OUT? SO SUCH DOGS ARE VERY KEEN.SO A DOG THAT DONT LEARN TO TEMPER ITS PACE WILL CERTAINLY TAKE INJURIES,BE IT MUSCULAR/SKELETAL/OR FROM OBSTACLES SUCH AS BARBED WIRE.     i give mine few rabbits,,,,but i dont want them to run flat out,,,,8 second,s for 150yards,,,well thats sucide,lol so what do is when there young i give them slips,,,near beach were grass is really long but pleanty off rabbits,,they learn to duck and wheeve threw long grass trying to out smart rabbit,but are not able to run flat out,,,when 10 to 14 month,,,,then i take them to feild,,,,,end result,,,i have got a racer that doesnt run flat out,,on the run up,,but still fast enough,,,( they quickly learn the diffrence from chasing rabbits to racing not saying that would work for everyon

    how i got into it ,,,was,,,,school work experence,,,then asked if i could be tookon the Y.T.S scheme,,,that was running at time for apprentaships at the time,,,,so i got my placement 1st then went to collage,,,,,5 x 2 week,s block,s a year at collage when i got to collage there was i think 17 other Y.T.S gamekeeper,s,,,half waiting for placments that the collage help find them most spent 2 to 6 weeks at collage till placments came in,,,,,some got really good one,s ,,,,the unlucky few got placed at collage farm to run small shoot,,,i think they were the unlucky few iam x gamekeeper now

    when bitches are just coming into season can be flying,,,or in hunting terms on fire,,,,,but when in season most folk will do as little as possible with them,,,,then start bringing them back to fittness some folk are diffrent,,,me i would do nothing with dog when in season,,,then start to bring her back to fittnes when seaso finished,,,but that does,nt mean iam right,,its just the way i was taught,,,i think everyone else has there own veiws on this,,,whatever works
