  1. I always take mine at the side of the bike, always take them for a walk over the field near miine first though so they can have an empty and a stretch. I do this in the morning then just take them for a walk in the evening, this way they've had a rest just incase the wind picks up at night.
  2. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any farm worker/assistant jobs within nottinghamshire. I know the pay isn't all that good but its something i've always been interesting in doing. I'm 19 and enjoy labour intensive work (I hate just sitting around) I'm also not affraid of getting stuck in and getting my hands dirty unlike alot of people my age. I dont have previous experience but I've been around alot of farms through working my dogs and shooting etc. If anyone knows of anywhere please pm me thanks.
  3. Brilliant film, brought the dvd for 3 quid last year. A good laugh and its good to see how life was back then
  4. Had a 5/8 3/8 that used to do them, he would struggle on the day time ones though but he still caught a few in his time

  6. Seen the same thing about a week back when we was out ferreting, must of been 20-30 snipe all flying around with eachother. They were darting about all over in the sky.

  8. Heres some pics of a couple of dogs out of arthur.
  9. Just finished reading mine yesterday, a good read but i also think that the books too short. The first one was also a short one so i'm guessing Darcy's going to produce a few more of these, a good idea but i'd like it all to be contained with in one book.
  10. Stuff 'em, i've got some land that runs alongside a dual carriage way. There's holes all the way along the hedge and on the verge and i've always ferreted these with out any trouble apart from the odd anti driving past pipping sticking his fingers up. On a few occasions when theres no crop in the fields these warrens have been the best ones for holding.
  11. Thinking of buying the THL calender, Whats it like? Is there any chance of seeing it before i buy one? atb billy

  15. Lovin all of the pics, nothing better than watching or running (pre-ban) fallow bucks. They're amazing powerfull beats n take some pulling
  16. Went out ferreting yesterday for the first time this season. 7 am and we was on our way to the permission dogs in the back, ferrets scratching at the box and both full of exciment as when i checked it about a month ago there was rabbits everywhere more than i had ever seen here before. The warrens on this particular piece of land are spread out over a grass field so its perfect for bolting them to the dog. As we pulled into the gate way, i could see a large mound of sand that had been dumped on the first warren i just thought the farmer might of filled this sett in as theres many hidden bolt
  17. Cheers for the info Ghillies and i'm sure if one does come at me i'll be up a tree quicker than a squirrel
  18. Hi, last year i watched the fallow rut in some local woods. I went to these woods yesterday expecting to witness a stag or two thrashing the ground or trees, bellowing or what ever they call it ( That noise they make), or even them fighting. Unfortunately i didn't see any of this and after spending 4 hours up there sneaking about i only found a coupleof saplings where a stag had stripped the bar with his antlers. I was just wondering when exactly it is they rut and wether they have started where any of you are?? Cheers
  19. Alright, i'm 18 from the midlands. My dads got 3 bullx's i work and 2 shotguns. Ive got a (nearly) pure grey, 3 ferrets n a air rifle like setting the odd snare here and there aswell but personally, work with the dogs beats everything hands down. Nice too see all these young hunters on here, theres only me and one of my mates thats into it around here. Not complaining though more work for ma dogs.
  20. Ive got 4 lurchers, 2 3/4 and a 5/8 3/8 bull greyhounds and a grey
  21. We get ours for nothing the butcher just said help yourself to them. Theres a big wheely bin most of the time its full of different bones and scraps of meat, it gets emptied 3 times a week so they're relatively fresh. Found that the dogs prefer the cow shin bones and the pelvis most.
  22. Them anti's wouldn't of bin walking back off that field if they come up to me and ma mate like that . Can't stand the f***ers!!!!
  23. Heres the biggest ive had when i've had the scales, weighed in at 21lb 8oz
