Air rifle pest control (Rats on the farm) with Si Pittaway & Davy Thomas
Phantom replied to zini's topic in Airgun Hunting

A Caution for possession of a Section One Firearm without a certificate. Because it's my first offence and the other circumstances I was offered the caution. I could have refused the caution, but then I'd have wound up with a spell in the big house as the CPS would have prosocuted me through the court. Remeber its a Mandatory minimum sentance if found guilty. Tony

Airgun law walking between permissions
Phantom replied to pmatty77's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Erm aint they one in the same? Feck off Skott...... Not the 'Olden Days' More like the "Golden Days" where "Common Sense" instead of MIPF (Media Induced Paranoia and Fear) ruled us Hopefully one day it will return! Tony -
Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, think I mentioned my working methods regarding email and notices Must get round to Chronological rather than reverse chronological order Yup and .50 is big ass Ogre Caliber Well thats it yah see the debate of which is best will rage forever, they call .22 "Tumble Dryer Calibre" on here  The more enlightened of us know that if you can put the lead where it's needed, there is little or no differeance in the outcome, dead is dead I've just put my Vernier Caliper over my .22 and yes, it is also 15mm Tony

Whats the Best LED Gun light out
Phantom replied to welshpoacher's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Let us all know how you get on with it then Hi Elliott, Just do a search on Ebay for "UltraFire" Cree Torches in the Sporting Goods section They are superb lamps, I use a 300 lumen one that I got with a mount and both remote pressure switch and standard end cap switch (screw in the one that you want) I paid about 16£ and it came with rechargable batteries and a charger Later on I purchased a set of 4 coloured lenses/filters and I know have a torch with the red Cree LED and I also have a 5watt Infra Red cree led they are all interchangable Tony -
Whats the Best LED Gun light out
Phantom replied to welshpoacher's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Please dont take this the wrong way But you just spent £150 on something that you could have paid a tenner for on Ebay? Checkout the Ultrafire Cree torches. Why would you need an 800meter beam for airgun shooting? (unless of course you were sniping in Afghanistan with a Barrat .50 cal). My Ultrafire Cree LED puts out a good beam well over a hundred yards for spotting the 'Jewels'. And thats with the RED Cree! The White light version at 300 lumens can light up the trees up the hills well over half a mile away I really think you should have asked for 'opinions' and advice be -
I dont think they have got wise to you Roger, It's more a case of letting it lie for a little bit until the next 'flock/crowd' move in. Give it a week or two and they will realise that there is a patch with no competition for food and they will move in then you can blatt the bullies again Tony

Airgun law walking between permissions
Phantom replied to pmatty77's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Again back in the 's early 90's it was acceptable to wander around rural town and villages with one broken over your arm. It wasn't an uncommon sight at all. Then the media began a hate campain because the Hungerford etc stories sold and made them huge amounts of money, thats when we started covering up our sport and our sports equipment. The media and anti's effectively drove us underground so to speak. Although I'm not certain I believe it would be the same rules/common sense with any firearm. As mentioned earlier there is no law requiring the Air Gun to be covered, its just common -

Airgun law walking between permissions
Phantom replied to pmatty77's topic in General Airgun Discussion
No he would not be breaking the law, UNLESS the road is a private road. Carrying your gun over a public highway/road is perfectly legal if you have a lawfull excuse or reason, ie travelling to or from your perms / range / gunshop etc.... IF however it WAS a private road and he did not have permission, he's fecked! as he would then be guilty of Armed Trespass! regardless of it being covered or not loaded or not, cocked or not! Good man -
Hi there Juan, I dont know the outside diameter of the .177 Barrel as mine is .22 (Mans Calibre.... LOL). LOL means either (depending on the person using it) 1. Laughs Out Loud. or 2. Lots Of Laughs. Tony

Night shooting, under the lamp is at first difficult to get used to Distances appear to be closer or further away Weird I know but I've shot at bunnies that I swear were spot on my zero only to find my pellet can be seen to fly well over the head and other times I'd swear it was spot on only to see my pellet zip under the bunnies chin!!! When I first began lamping in my cemetery permission, one of the weirdest things happened. I'd spotted a bunny side on, as soon as I touched the pressure switch, Thumper began a sprint straight towards me  Once it was light from head on the roun

Airgun law walking between permissions
Phantom replied to pmatty77's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Good advice there guy's However there is no LAW that requires you to have it covered! Its True Back in the 's I'd walk around with my gun over my arm Broken like a Shotty and no one gave a hoot! But sadley in this day and age; it's a matter of common sense to cover it up Tony -
Gamo Dynamax / BSA Ultra Tactical
Phantom replied to el barba's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
I could do with an extended air cylinder for my ultra Tony -
Incidently I shot a Woody with an 10.25 ft/lbs rifle from underneath, took the head almost clean off The Heart carries on pumping for a second or two and a Woody has a lot of beats per second hart rate, hence the amount of blood Tony

If its doing that with AAF's, get it turned down QUICK If the Police Chrono it, it WILL go over with a Biz Mag! Remember they use light, medium and heavy pellets. AAF are medium weight Get it set to 11.5 using Biz Mags, that way it's never going to go over. According to an RFD my BSA Ultra was 11.76 with AAF's. Police Chronoed it with a heavier pellet and it was 13.04 and I need an FAC to possess it. Oh and I now have a Criminal Record because of that the Biz mag put an extra 1.28 ft/lbs (and thats only a few feet per second more). Tony

Indeed, the line I use is "Although I have never needed it and dont intend on ever using it, I am insured with BASC/BASA/CA etc... Just as a precaution, and like I say, I'm a serious shooter, not someone who takes stupid, risky or dangerous shots. I am a safe, and very concientious shooter." Very valid point there El Barba Tony

Reversing the mounts or Shimming? Swap the mounts around, put the one at the back on the front, then see if that improves things If its still shooting high at max adjustment, then put a very thin piece of something between the bottom of the scope and the rear mount, if its shooting low, then put it under the bottom of the scope and front mount (think I've got that the right way round) Only takes something like a slip of tinfoil or something, a cut up slip of drinks can, piece of photographic film Tony
-
Try reversing your mounts If that does't work you'll have to start shimming one of the mounts Tony

That's the place to start then Name dropping seems to get results Ask the landowner who he/she knows with land and ask him if he would perhapse be willing to be a referance source for you. Tony
