Dont waste your time with BASA Been there, done that, got three months free outta them, but my experiance with them was nothing like what they promissed. Waited forever to get a set of badly photocopied documents and 'tokens' for free entry to the comps. Emails not responded to, feck knows what would have happened if I'd actually had to claim! It also took 13months for my 'Membership" Card to arrive and then they got stroppy when I'd cancelled the Direct Debit Go direct to BASC So far they have fought my corner, dealt with the Local Government AND brought them to their knees. An upd

Yep BT, I have My first time disturbed me so much that I now kneck after every shot, hence my feelings about the subject. I'm not saying the guy should be sent to prison, I said he deserved a hefty penalty. It may have been a mistake, but it was clearly a case of cruelty No I did not say it was alright to shoot quarry with underpowered air rifles and pistols My point on that thread was Accuracy is more important than power. I could drop a ton weight on you from a height, but it wouldnt harm you if I missed you would it? I could on the other hand drop a penny on you from the same

Blanked you Craig? I replied on FB explaining why I had the thread taken out of circulation Tony

What I was saying is he should not have even attempted to kill something if he is incapable of doing it correctly. I dont give a sh!t if it was a flea, a tree rat or another human being. F I V E Attempts to kill it each one doing nothing but causing more suffering? And then to leave it after a couple of shots so he could go do his shopping before comming back and having another three tries at getting it right Totally unaceptable to any NORMAL RIGHT MINDED Human being. If any one of you think that is the correct way to despatch an animal then I pity your severe mental dificiency. Yes

We've all injured when a shot aint been perfect, but for fook sake the animal was in a trap, they guy used a .22. Left it then came back and put another three rounds into it? When I've shot something in the head, whatever it is, I always stretch it's kneck, why? because once, I fluffed a shot, the animal went down like a sack of bricks. Not wanting to disturb the others, I stayed put. A few seconds later the bunny got up and gave it legs in a figure of eight! I dont shoot to injure like most. I was on my feet instantly, clearing the field of all other quarry. So now it's a neck stretch r

Just been looking through a pistol site and value comes down to: Age, model and condition. A friend of mine tweaked his new one to just short of 3.3 ft/lbs. I've seen them go from £50 to £130. Put a pic or two up for me? Tony

I'd have to agree, the cloved hoof suggests a small Dear of sorts, Muntjack I think, but always open to correction. Tony
-
No not at all, but the good news is if it's in good or exellent nick, they fetch a decent price Tony

A friend once shot me in the arse from about 6 feet. Barely bruised, didnt make it through my school uniform trousers. In short, despit their 'reasonable' accuracy out to 6 yards; they are no good for hunting at all. Tony

Stick with the tried and tested Domes Unless close ratting, then flats/hollows will not bounce back at you. Forget the gimmicks, forget the points (unless you ewanna miss). Tony.

Yeah Brian, I'll be making another appointment this week Tony

I used to use a 30/30 Then I got a mildot. I'm not sure that it was an upgrade though Reason being is that I could take clean head shots with the 30/30 without really thinking, it became very instinctive Since I moved to mildots, I became very obsessive with range finding and elevation. Now I check range, then do the math, check on my charts count the dots and if the quarry has moved, then I do it all again Funnily enough though, I had problems with windage on the 30/30, but never did with the mildot system. I guess that just like the cal debate, each ret has pro's and cons.

I know dozens of people who own and shoot them. They are HW40's manufactured under license by Beeman. Now generally made in China, they were initially made in Germany by Weirauch. The only fault appears to be the seals in the early ones that were produced in China. They seem to have raised the bar now though. Tony

Hi Roger, Quack gave me Antibiotics, which helped the chest, but hasn't cleared it. I finished the antibiotics yesterday and started coughing again last night. The Vertigo thing my daughter also had a while back. That part only lasted a few days, unless I move suddenly, then it ets wobbly again. BD, yeah I have to take Forceval everyday (prescribed strength). You got me thinking though, I must be due another shot of B12. I get run down when when I havent had it. Tony
