if only you knew then what you know now eh It's funny I was beating for Charlie W last week it's quite amusing to see all these older fellas being all respectable knowing what a bunch of Herberts they were years ago.

My mate was down Christmas eve who bred coppers sire he said bn also took a bitch pup fom him that was really nervous and when bn put it with a litter of pups he'd bred the worried it to death as it was that nervous.

I can remember various rough coated lurcher running around my estate in Faversham in the late 70s early 80s getting shagged by the vaious other mutts that got booted out to run the estate.Us kids used to nick food for them cause we thought they looked starving.It was 10 or so years later when I got into working dogs that I found out from older mates that they were sons and daughters of the legend Toby AKA The hoover.

Didn't pretend to be any ting different though not like some of the other pricks in the dog game who put themselves on a pedestal.Always good for a story.

More than I got mate I got to take the new pup for a walk, silly b*stard hasn't quite grasped the idea of what is supposed to happen while he's out, and as soon as he comes home he goes and pisses on the decking. Know that feeling I've been walking around the garden for 15 minutes every hour for the last four days only for it to p??s on the floor within 2 minutes of bringing it back in the house.

Cull anything that showed nervousness and I wouldn't breed again out of whatever produced the nervous pups . simple.

Nervousness and bad Temperaments are probably the worst fault to get rid of if it manifests itself in a line of dogs worse in my eyes than any physical in perfection.

I've seen lots of bitches out of him that would collapse onto their bellies and piss when you went near them and I've seen them at bills owners hiding under their beds at the back of the kennel peeking out like wild things.BIllys sister who is coppers grandma didn't seem to throw the bad nerves as much but her offspring could be very very slow and you could be waiting well over two years to find out if they would work or not.

No and personally I wouldn't keep anything down from Molly or her brother Billy but saying that I have seen a couple of very good ones. Are you talking about SE Billy and molly there mate....just curious.Billy yes but Molly was his sister that my mate owned.Seen a couple of very good ones but seen a lot of very very nervous ones and very slow dim one's

You didn't need to edit you're post RH you wasn't far off the mark.Thats the trouble with that stuff no consistency within the line.

He wasn't when Lee had him but I believe he's produced a couple of real good ones.Thats the problem I have with that stuff if you're lucky you can get a superstar but they throw a lot more useless c#$ts and you seem to be waiting forever to find out what you have.But that just my experience with them.

Coppers sire was out of SE Billy litter sister he was litter brother to Joe who was Henry's sire that's behind one of your dogs I believe.I thought it was well known Brian can get a little muddled up at times when writing peds.

Brian had 2 litter mates off my mate Lee from Darlington.The bitch died and the dog went to his mate and Brian used it on one of his own bitches to get copper.

Where have all the wheeler experts gone can no one answer this what does it matter they are all watered down now anyway. It probable doesn't matter but there must be other dogs that made the grade as a worker and sire other than CharlieThere was a few others that made it as good workers.Probably more that didn't or never got the opportunity to prove themselves.But I don't think there were any that consistently produced workers like Charlie but then Charlie was an extra generation away from the bull blood than most of the other known wheeler stuff and his owner has told me many times that he

Interesting,Don't get me wrong mine will push on if you walk along with your head in the clouds especially if their isn't any scent to keep them interested but they are nothing like the terriers I kept for 20 odd years if you took your eyes off them they were gone.Ive got 2 youngsters here that I can stop on a rabbit with a single blast.My mate has the mother to my young bitch she is also the 1/2 sister to my young dog she will flush gear all day when beating but as soon as we get the catapults out she will point gear and she's as good a marker with the ferrets as you could wish.
