  1. I married one, and she can still keep up with the best of them. The only trouble is when I do them I am a smelly git and when she does them they are love puffs  :stinker:
  2. :11: I knew it would be some thing like that We have found a guy just down the road who has an apiary and he is working fifty yards away so will be getting hold of him and having a good chat and see what the score is there, funny how when you are looking for something it usually appears under your nose huh.
  3. I would be careful here mate, I found out twenty years ago as I did the same sort of trick, I put similar adds up in shop windows and before I knew it I had loads of permission, the only trouble being you are offering a service "vermin control", taking on too much the land owners are expecting you to do what you advertised, before long it will become more of a chore and doing them a free favour, also if they don't see a marked improvement you could end up losing your permission! I would stop when you have enough manageable permission or you could be digging yourself a very deep hole Y
  4. Some good zeroing targets free to download and print here if your interested and saves buying them
  5. verry intresting this equasion you speak of sounds technical :stupid: :11: Yes mate, its all very highly testical, is that! Regards, Grim. Its quite simple really hey, I did however forget to mention the angle of the dangle didn't I Actually on a more serious note, I recently made a 15m indoor range in my barn, out with the old sand bag type rest thing (I only Have a springer), then when I have it homed in at 15m, I simply go to my permission on a wind free day pace out 30 steps (approx 30m) and adjust to that range.
  6. I just triangulate the trajectory then calculate the velocity multiplied by the weight of the grain and expanse of the projectile and prey ... simple hey
  7. How the hell did this thread degenerate into talking about eating Chinese? Is it some kind of breed of BEE
  8. Thanks talpa, good link that, I just got lost for an hour browsing through. Another useful link moxy sent me amongst others is https://secure.csl.gov.uk/beebase/ Thanks again for that one moxy mate Hopefully by next summer we will be able to get something together here.

  10. That is a big bugger, cracking catch
  11. Thanks guys for the answers so far. I know they expect to see the honey supplies in this country, gone by December! That will force the price up to silly money, as if its not expensive enough already. We get a lot of tourists here in summer and were looking to supplying Hebridean heather honey, so far we know of no one here doing it as yet, so could be a good money spinner. We have no shortage of blooming heather too. Did anyone watch the programme last week about the wild honey cutters in Nepal? It was amazing, you can read about it HERE. We were already talking about keeping bee'
  12. My wife worked on En Yahav Moshave for a year, studying agricultural methods Gav,some of the workers grew a few tobacco plants in the "Forcing" houses, you have the land, get a few poly-tunnels,get some forcing-curtains in and experiment Avoid those sort of parties Jacob The poly tunnel we are looking at mate is £1500 and then we have to get it fitted, looks like we are getting a 18' x 32' as the steel work is a heavier gauge so can with stand the winds up here (we get 120mph and gust of 150mph+) That sort of pricing I think we will just get one and see how we go on. Ordered the
  13. As we are surrounded by heather and in the process of clearing a good size bit of land for veg and a poly tunnel for next spring, we have got the idea of maybe trying to keep a hive of bee's for honey and pollination, we have got a few books but it looks very complicated and expensive setting up! I was wondering if any one has had experience in bee keeping? Is it some thing you need a lot of experience before hand or would it be ok to just jump in and crack on with it? How well do bee's travel, as we are offshore, can they travel via the postal service? Thanks in advance for an
  14. I have a few grolux 750w lamps kicking about, so that no problem .. they are for veg honest ... have spoken to the wife and though she doesn't smoke says its a good idea growing tobacco, we can do our own herbal mix

  16. My son aged 9 has badgered me for a catty for ages, so I got him one of the cheap barnet ones to see how he gets on, explained the safety issue and got him 500 6mm steel balls to go on with. He is getting on pretty good and I have had a go, just to show him how to go about it honest. The 6mm seem small but go like hell.
  17. Well you have me convinced now, we are in the process of clearing some land for veg etc, also getting a 30'x 14' polytunnel up, so guess what I will be growing in the corner . I never even thought about growing tobacco till I saw this thread, cheers guys
