good luck to ya ollie , its grand to get paid to do what you enjoy, £1 per rabbit ,£1 per hour , it don,t matter if your not relying on it for your income , at least your gonna pay for your gear

two totally different traps that are used in different ways and different situations, i use the fenns (genuine) in holes and tunnels and the 116,s (genuine) in runs thru wire and grass /cover, its best to have a few (or alot )of both types to cover most situations

Trappa Mate........if you get used to setting the Talpex a certain way it is simply the best trap on the market (In my opinion) that there is. I still use the Duffus where the situation warrants it, but have switched to the Talpex wholesale. I like the more powerful spring mechanism which delivers a quick and humane kill unlike the Duffus which doesn't take many catches before the spring becomes weak and ineffectual. But it is horses for courses and you must always use what you are comfortable with setting and what gives you confidence in catching lots of moles. All the best Mate Rol

i suppose it would depend on what you are fishing for? I thought i would try fishing for rabbits, do you have any advice or help to give on the subject? . thanks for the advice Ianrob thats the same size mesh that i have been told aswell .D. don,t take any notice of rabbitboy , he has bin rabbiting for about 12 months and trys to give advice on all things rabbity especially on long and trammel nets, then he will tell you that trammels are to heavy and you should be using traditional nets with anchor pins

ditchy ive trapped them in canada, they had eaten a hole through the mesh , and were in killing all the young steelheads, a 220 bodygrip over the hole put paid to the destruction , the canadians don,t piss about , the trappers are in and the jobs done , but its always the same old adage over here , those who have nothing to pay always have the most to say , its not their livelyhood thats at stake , they are only a big weasel , that kills the ducks seagulls , all water birds , fish and everything else they can get there teeth into . funny you should say that snareman , the pond in question

hi steve , new jobs on hold till 1st march cos of one thing or another, which is a bit of a bugger , but not long now if the tunnels are so deep , then thats where you gotta set your traps , i hardly ever used to dig more that about 5 inches ,exept on cornland , dunno why the tunnels are so deep, follow a hill down til you find the level run and the tunnel going either way and set there , not the first choice because of all the extra work involved, but you will still catch ,if your having to rotate your trapping fields , get plenty of traps in and hit them hard, these things are so diffic

tell me about it , baliff said the club membership is down 70% because of the fish kills

couple of weeks back i was asked to catch a mink that was killing carp at a fishery , mink don,t kill and eat 15- 24lb carp , told the baliff , he said would i set the cages anyway to prove it wasn,t a mink as he had caught 3 in the summer, 4 nights set and nothing but one stolen trap and another that someone had tryed to steal, the place is public and not the best place to hide stuff, he was going to get intouch with derfa for advice on sorting it out as the otter had killed and eated 110 carp in 14 months that they had found, i would think that qualifies for removal

go onto the pinned section at the top of the main page , and you will see rat snaring by gs waters how to set the benders in detail along with the snares , you will also see good clear pictures of the snaring methods put up by peg and gun, i wouldn,t bother with fishing monofil line as they will bite through it , either use two strands of brass rabbit snare wire , stainless steel , or trace wire , anything that is thin and strong and runs fast. according to matt the rat , thier necks will be broken and therefore will now be able to bit thru anything

quite possibly if i thought the rabbit was killed quickly enuff, but as i sell rabbits , i don,t really want to have to search the undergrowth, i prefer them fastened to one spot

just an thought !! , if we can get an idea of how many people on here actually snare as thier living or part of there living , then we could gauge as to what effect the ban would have, i know theres a big difference between pro,s and hobby snarers , alot of hobby snarers are doing a very good service for farmers helping in controlling rabbits ,foxes etc but they will not loose a part of there livelihood if a ban goes thru , just a few quid at weekends maybe, so how many people actually rely on snares and snaring to pay thier morgage/rent /food etc ? gamekeepers , professional pesters , ver

as a pro , you will probably have seen plenty of rats suffering from the effects of poison, how can a nooski be the cruelest thing you have ever seen ? i cannot see the difference between a rubber band round a rats neck and a snare on a bender , do rats not get strangled in a wire snare ?
-
i have a couple and have only ever caught 1 rat in my wifes stable , no chance of catching the neighbours cat or dog cos of the set up , worked a treat , baited the tube for a day or two then set it and bingo , next morning ratty laid on the floor a couple of feet away, i suppose they have there uses in such places as domestics where small animals a children could be running about

bloody hell , i thought you forgot about that shitty i used a brick hammer for years for rabbit trapping with mk6,s, but was getting sick of sometimes not being able to fit it on the hole to start with , common sense would say trim the blade down a bit, but i just persevered, i got me a mini spade type tool made up and use that all the time now , much quicker and easier to use , got an origional trapping hammer of the bay but not to use
