-
whats a pro gold rabbit trap ?
-
why do you need short claws on a ferrets feet ? the claws are tools , just like thier teeth
-
you might get a couple each
-
thats a fair sized weasel in comparison to the mesh size on the fence

i,m not defeatist at all and am more than willing to try something different or difficult, i was taught many years ago , that back pegging was "the" way to set longnets , i didn,t know any different and was listening to people that had set longnets , i then moved onto gsw,s method of fixed pole and dragging the net , then onto baskets , never had a need to learn pegging as you go and not really interested as the other methods cover my needs

has the squirrel in the 1st picture already bin in a snare that caught it round the waist and escaped ?, as there is a deffinate ring round the abdomen
-
i was taught to back peg and have never tried pegging as you go , i don,t think i could do it so i,m sticking with the fixed poles, there are places that fixed poles don,t work where i,m at , uneven ground and heather beds , so i have a few traditional nets that i use in daylight only, strange , i am not a lover of purse nets and have always prefered the daylight longnets for ferreting or bushing up , but lately i have bin doing some ground that is best done with pursenets again very uneven and big heather beds, so i,m making a few more pursenets to add to my small collection just for those
-
now if you do it the proper way with fixed poles , you don,t have all this running up and down or backpegging mullarky
-
i only keep dog ferrets and i have a right mixture from different years and different litters , i have all the adults castrated so theres no seasonal humping and once the pecking order is sorted , there isn,t a problem, once the younguns are old enuff to work , the whole lot will be in together ,all 11 of em don,t see why it makes any difference whether they are from the same litter or not or brung up together

I have a single shot hushpower bakel 410 and I use 3"magums size 6 sub sonics find these spot on for rabbits, very quiet, Will be looking at a Mossberg in a couple of weeks time price new £470 try northallerton shooting supplies , i got one there for £475 new, last time i was in they had one for £425 new ,cracking little gun with 3" shells killed plenty of rabbits out to 35yds, very limited with 2.5 or 2" shells , but still work out to 20-25 yards

thats a fair amount of food gone for one pigeon , looks like they could be getting in and out again back thru the bob wire , i had this problem a few years back and ended up having to put funnels on the inside to stop the pigeons getting out again , i also found that once theres a bird or two in , they start to scrat the feed about and the other birds can feed without entering the trap , a base would stop this happening, the pigeons outside can also reach in thru the mesh and feed without entering , so some finer mesh around the bottom about 3-4 inches up helps stop this , i know its a carry o

got to agree with ya , no need to clip ferrets nails , they are a tool just like thier teeth yeah ....a tool thats what i thought Who? Moley? only i know that one

glad to hear it

so when you say "picked up "that could be construed by some as stolen, i hope this is not the case because as a victim of many thefts of traps , snares etc , it really pisses me off that some thieving f****r thinks he has the right to take what is not his and sod the poor bugger that has spent his hard earned cash to have it taken by some twat that is lower than a snakes knackers ,not big and not clever and not to be bragged about
-
I generally favour smaller mesh where I can as it means that any bashing about bangs against a sort of 'flat surface' rather than impacting a single bar. i have always said , live catch traps are not humane , too much stress and injury , far better to have a kill trap set properly

Question for mole trappers
moley replied to dogs-n-natives's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control

Big bags those! You on LW's hill?? nope, tother side of the dale, dunno how LW,s got on , i just hope he doesn,t burn anymore lunch huts down
-
take a look from the side ,not from above , where the round bar and flat bar meet , there is a gap , on a fenn there is not , that,s why they do not kill rabbits, i got one off solway to try out before i ordered 200 , i ended up getting 200 fenns , more expensive , but more humane, makes you wonder who field tests these traps before they are passed

-
yep , not bad for a rank amateur , when you grow up to be a big lad you will catch plenty more , but not in the trap you,s showed me on friday , has that smell gone yet ? i had to bath 4 times and burn all me clothes , i think my nose hairs have absorbed some of the steam cos i can still smell it , i,m sure you dogs run fast to get away from thier own arse holes after eating that shite

Another satisfied customer..........yeah with practice you can make it work in most soils if you back-fill the trap using the soil from a nearby mole hill........Well done anyway. Regards Rolfe. hardly rolfes way , this method has bin used in the states for years to set out o sight traps , search the web for moletrapping in the usa and there loads of stuff, i showed it in my moling tape a few years ago and gave credit to the yank trappers , why do people claim stuff as thier own ideas , when they just copy someone elses ? Sorry..........i don't ever remember claiming it was
