  1. Well my understanding is a tunnel stops non target species getting at the trap...SO a pile of flints on a hedge bottom provided it can be put inside and the entrance restricted = tunnel ...Run through the grass when anything can flatten it / move it out of the way / step through it nope. fair enuff , but the law states , within the overhang of a natural or artificial tunnel , so regardless of weather or not the grass can be flattened i still think the trap would be set within the law, obviously common sense would tell you not to set it there
  2. i think this has bin discused beore , but here goes again , what is defined as a tunnel ? hole thru grass/cover ?
  3. i used to get 50+ from a 7 acre field most years over a 3 day period , there was no other trapping done in any of the fields surrounding it , moles will quickly move into a vacant space especially if the fields are fertile and particularily in march and april
  4. rolfe ,was there two sets of fox prints on top of each other going across that field ?, as they don,t look like one lot of prints to me , just an observation as at this time of year they are busy chasing ..atb moley
  5. theres a couple of other things that can help you to recognise the early stages of poisoning , one is lethargy , bloodshot eyes and pale gums , ok thats 3 ,
  6. This last film is really the point of this post. This guy sells a package consisting of one “How to trap moles manualâ€, eight putange traps and generously includes a “Free†packet of grass seed to reseed your molehills... The traps in this package are all supposed to have been impregnated with the smell of the mole ( or one of his mates ) you see in video number three. I personally reckon this could be an advanced case of kidology, but as I’m a total beginner, I ask this question – could having a mole ( or anything else ) run over your traps have any possible bearing on thei
  7. i,m quite suprised that the collarum is getting such a bad press from you lads on here without giving it a go , even if its used to catch urdan foxes or in certain situations , then surely another string to any trappers bow is a good one, these things are fitted with breakaways and stops just like the ones glen is showing everyone so they can be species spacific and release badgers and cats just like the snares we use now
  8. theres still a couple of these pups left , rob has reduced the price to £175 if anyone is interested
  9. nope sorry, all i can tell you is the dam is brindle and the sire is a clouded red merle , both are around 23-24 inch tts , i got a pup myself and have a litter sister to the sire , best to ask rob anything else

  11. we used to use a single strand of brass rabbit snare wire formed into a snare a fastened to he end of a stick for catching trout from the local beck, i used it at night with a lamp to get baits for pike fishing , there was a fella in the village that was a dab hand at catching trout and grayling in daylight , locally known as a sling

when i bought mine i had seen it on a video and thought it was the instant cure to a rabbit control problem i was dealing with , so the cost didn,t really apply so i bought the system , the problem was a neighbouring land owner wasn,t allowing me onto his land to control rabbits travelling from his to mine and due to different circumstances other control methods wernt working , so this system was the answer and then i got the go ahead to get the rabbits on the neighbours land , so i didn,t need the lift method after all it wasn,t cheap , but then theres a fair bit of work involved with makin

i think heritage has done a very good explination of how the rig works , the only difference with mine is that i use it with a fixed pole set-up , the 9mm poles fit nicely into the pipe at the top , then the bottom running line is wound round the wire spirals on the pivot pins , out riggers are every 3-5 poles

If that remark was aimed at me? I am not doubting merely giving an opinion! If you had bothered to read my first post I stated, "I was willing to be proved wrong". I have no need of all these new fangled gadgets that people use these days or as in this case not so new fangled. If someone uses them and are happy with the result then. What more do you need? However, if someone goes to the expense of buying 200 yards of a new fangled gadget, uses it once, then stashes it away, never to be used again, that speaks volumes to me. TC don,t flatter yourself , it was a general com

theres always some that will doubt most things without any experience of it , why not set a net out on the ground and see for yourselves then you can speak from experience

Moley, any chance you could post a pic or let me know how the actual flipping up bit works? When you say only 4 rabs...... were there more to be had but only 4 passed over it, or was it just a small bury? What's your view on the rabbits being spooked by the net? Concensus so far seem to be that it will make them very cautious and require a few days to get them passing confidently. I still havent tried laying out a net on the ground due to torrential rain here yesterday....hopefully tonight. All input appreciated. HH all. G. i will try to find the gizmos and pu

i bought one of these setups many years ago , i can flip up 200 yds of net in one go with no problem, the 1st time i set it up was with a brand new net on fixed poles so as you can imagine , the net stank of newness and the rabbits ran over no bother , all 4 0f them, i havn,t tried it as much as i should have , but wasnt too eager to leave all that expensive kit laid in a field even tho it isn,t easily seen untill you are close to it , i might hunt it out and give it another try this winter
  22. yip , usually have a look before setting to make sure theres plenty out there you would ill give you a bell later i might be washing my hair
