Bloody awful its like trying to make in to a bobcat she foots anyone or anything that goes near her even when you try to kill what she,s got,but get her off and she,s a real pussycat.I take the rough with the smooth as she,s worth the hassle to see her hunt.

Here,s a photo of Honey my female Redtail on a buck squirrel she,s a pain in the arse to keep and hunt but boy when she flies she,s worth it.

Help anyone out there got a cure for a nutty Female Redtail who,s broken every tail feather off in two months. She seems to sit on her arse when she,s on a kill and breaks her feathers as she,s doing a nutty dance stamping all over whatever she,s got hold of.She,s a nasty spiteful cow on a kill so getting her off quickly is out of the question.I,ve already imped her full tail once with redtail feathers but she,s broken em all off again.Christ she,s hard work nothing like my two harrises but hell i refuse to give up.Any suggestions i,m all ears.

I come from South Wales and have had a few experiences with these feisty little swines, had a request to find out what had taken nearly 150 old english game chickens over a winter, the bloke had em running loose and breeding like wild pheasants and the numbers slowly dwindled until he had 9 left.Only evidence he could give me was some strange tracks he,d seen in the snow an he hadn,t a clue what they were from.Anyway set a live cage trap with a freshly killed woodie in it and turns up next morning full of a hissing spitting evil ball of black fur stinking and rancid as hell, right evil swine he w

[/img] Picked up my female harris last week, was dreading it as she had wing tip odeamia (frostbite)last season and lost a fair bit of flesh from the ends of her wingtips.Thought she,d never fly again let alone hunt damned if she didn,t prove me wrong. The only problem i can see is some superficial scarring to some of the feathers on her right wing which obviousely affects her not at all.She had two slips and took the second in fine style at 2lb 1 and a half ounces. Not bad for a reformed cripple.
-
She was 2lb 15 1/2oz when i picked her up and she,s now coming 10 to 15 feet on the creance at 2lb 9 1/2 oz.

Nah bought her locally in South Wales don,t know who bred her or where they were from. Coward she,s an absolute pussycat honest

Yeah will do hopefully i,ll get in a good season with her,to be honest i,m dead chuffed with her as i,ve wanted a Female Redtail for about four years but i,ve put it off until now as i didn,t have the work for her but now i do.Lots of free time an bags of ground to fly on.
-
Hi just to say thanks for those that helped me with contacts for trying to find a redtail for the coming season,I finally found one through a friend of mine 1 year old with a season under her belt already, too good to refuse so she,s now finishing her moult in my aviary and i cant wait for the coming season. Thanks once again and happy hunting.

Hi Mate Dug two foxes a few years back and found the skeletons of 3 immature cats about 3/4 grown in the bury, spoke to a few villagers close by who confirmed some old dear had lost 2 3/4 grown kittens a few weeks before but no-one saw who took em.If i recall that was a bad year for foxes as there wern,t much grub local for them so who knows they may have been desperate and took em as there was nothing else on offer.

Aarrgghh went into my aviary yesterday as usual to check for feathers and picked up three primaries in a dried up wingtip.Checked me feckin birds and buggered if the female harris hasn,t lost the end of her wing, must have been when she took a duck on the river and froze solid when she came out,i rushed her home an got the warm hairdrier on her an all seemed fine till now.Out of the blue this happens to be honest i,m friggin gutted.Three years of blood sweat an tears which made an awesum hunting bird taking everything(rabbits ducks, squirrels ,heron, crows, pheasants you name it she,s took it in f

harrishawker21 wiz on your site but for some reason couldnt send e mail what is site u got squirrel chapsfrom? I make em myself i couldn,t find any when i needed them exept in america so i sussed out how to make em,i,ve used them for around four seasons and sold em to virtually every corner of britain and ireland and i haven,t had any thing but praise for them so far.and i use them on my pair of harrises every day as i got loads of squirrels around here and my birds love em,problem is they rip shit out of the birds when they catch em but they dont do any damage to the birds when they wear

As sum of the lads have said check out the books for drawings an plans another good book is Gemima Parry Jones -Training Birds of Prey,a very useful book for aviary sizes, travelling boxes you name its in there,,hell there,s even advice in there on what birds to start off with and what to avoid.Good luck and happy hawking if you do join the crowd coz you,ll find a lot of falconers are more than happy to help a journeyman hell my thanks list when i started goes about as long as a bog roll.

Nice pics mate ,i notice in the background on one telegraph pole there,s a grey transformer box watch out for the two looped wires that come off the overhead cables to the transformer, these buggers are closer together than high voltage overhead cables so your birds wingtips can touch each cable and boom, fried harris hawk.Believe it or not these wires kill more young birds of prey each year than anything else so watch out for em just when you dont want a bird to land on em they will especially in the wind.

2 books i found very useful is (Jemima Parry Jones-Training Birds of Prey) and Emma Ford (Falconry Art and Practice)both very useful in selecting and training a bird of prey.As for the expense by the time you buy a bird and house it it and get all the kit to use with it you,re looking at small change out of about 6-800 quid all in.Check out my website it may help. http://harrishawking.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/ Looking on the bright side its a wicked passtime and highly addictive so good luck and happy hunting.

Hi if you want to know for sure ring your local plod and ask for the firearms officer they,re usually pretty helpful about this sort of stuff or contact B.A,S.C for around 18 quid you can join this organisation and have free unlimited liability insurance for no extra cost.I think you have to be 17 to buy one but you can be bought one or made a gift of one much younger.

Well the shits hit the fan but hell it cant be that bad,i covered my aviaries as a precaution before i put the birds down to moult and plans are already in place for a disinfectant bath for wellies going in and out.Although the panic buttons been pressed i,m still staying optimistic about hunting next season and hopefully this crap will all blow over by then, till then best of luck and i,ll hopefully not be the only hunter next season.
