  1. England aren't that great at it either..
  2. Wales are f*****g shit at League.....
  3. If you want some proof as to how long ferrets have been domesticated animals, there's a very interesting little book here: Williamson, T. (2006): The Archaeology of Rabbit Warrens, Shire Publications Ltd, Princes Risborough. On page 7 there's a medieval illustration of a couple of women entering a ferret and netting a bury.....and one cheeky little bugger exitting an unnetted hole
  4. Home made curry tastes better if you freeze it.
  5. Beat me to it mate Mind, I'm bloody useless at float fishing
  6. I want a submarine that fires real explosive torpedoes
  7. Have a gander here, BBB, but put your credit card under lock and key first.... http://www.climaxtackle.com/ (Scroll down a bit) Incidently, Climax is a b-good shop.....good prices (sometimes) and fast safe delivery.
  8. Sounds like one for the tackle tarts that one, OBE.....
  9. I think therte's unresolved anger issues on this thread. My personal hate is any politician on the telly or radio that won't give a straight answer to a straight question. Put 'rm up against a wall.
  10. I think we're forgetting the Danes in that cut and paste. And the Normans were originally Vikings....'Nor(se)man' As for the Romans, I was under the impression that if you sailed to a country, slaughtered anyone who opposed you and established military control over it, you had invaded/conquered it. I stand corrected.
  11. Here's something else to consider. It's now thought to be a myth that 'invasions' like the Anglo-Saxons, the Danes, Normans etc replaced or drove out the indiginous population. They didn't, well not for most of the population....the bigwig landowners might have left/been killed/been replaced, but most people stayed where they were. They simply had different rulers - same old shit. So the Welsh are not neccessarily the remnants of the pure-bred Celt, any more than the English are. What changed in the invasions was the culture/governance/technology, not the people. Maxhardcore
  12. And 'welsh' simply means 'foreigner/person not of these parts'
  13. Thing is, a lot of the methods used by the bivvy brigade have applications in Match fishing, especially rigs and flavours. And I don't think the word 'lazy' is relevent to someone who carries half a ton of bivvy and fishing gear, and then sits in the same spot for 72 hours.....that requires rather more determination than I think I could muster.
  14. Each to their own, though the thought of plotting up for the weekend for 2 fish doesn't exactly excite me. Mind, it's bloody amusing when you sit on the next peg to a fully alarmed up Carp man, and pull out a lunker on coarse gear while he sits there fishless..... He packed up in disgust
  15. For once I agree with the stubster. Mind, I think there's a big difference between text-talk (sheer bloody idleness) and poor spelling/grammar (poor education). Waits for the first claim to dyslexia.....which curiously is always spelt right by the 'sufferers'......
  16. a ) This is the General forum, for discussing anything. b ) Hunting is eco-friendly.....at least it's more eco-friendly than chucking poisons around, or gassing.
  17. The eastern end of that lake, Mark. It's controlled by the Birchmoor AC and it's got some stonking bream in it The 'Pigs' end used to be day ticket, must find out if it still is.....
  18. A lake on the Anker after bream. Probably only for a few hours because I work nights.....
  19. I think there's a good chance it's real. Not only are we adding vast quantities of Carbon dioxide and Methane into the atmosphere, but we're also burning the trees that would absorb it. However compared with the Carboon dioxide output of a major volcanic eruption it's chickenfeed. If the caldera under Yellowstone kicks off, it's game over.....
  20. That is one bloody good idea, max *looks outside to see if the local kids have kicked a football into the garden.....*

    flu

Problem with this is that the ghost of 'Spanish Flu' in 1918 still haunts the medical/research professions. That pandemic killed more people than WW1. It did so (they think) by mutating to provoke an over-reaction from peoples' immune systems, so it mainly killed healthy young adults. Lets me out then.....
  22. I seem to recall Jazz stating a couple of months back that he was breeding all 3 jills......so his statements now make even less sense. I know it's a bit late to mank about this, but I'm intrigued as to what thought process prompted that decision.
  23. Trouble is, it's the buggers who DO have an interest in the countryside and its' pursuits, but only in as far as it makes them look big and clever.
  24. If you lock the gate, make sure that the 'my dick's bigger than yours' brigade are outside. Most of the problems are caused by individuals who see hunting as a competitive sport, and rubbish anyone who seems to do better than they do.
