  1. It's always struck me as a rather gloomy place, all trees and dark slate. But there's some cracking walks around, and a few years back the pubs weren't bad either.
  2. Summat up here. Just agreed with stubby again..... Chuck it, pal. A bale of dust-free shavings is rather cheaper than a visit to the vets with a ferret with respiritary problems. Be OK to user as litter.
  3. Here's some info on carp amino acid receptors.... http://www.springerlink.com/content/hk3q576213262836/
  4. That's not bad at all. Who sang it? I thought at first it might be John Tams or Show of Hands, but not at all sure....
  5. Fine here now. It can stay like it for the next 7 hours please, till me club match is over....
  6. Snap a fortnight ago...... Good fish those.
  7. Top man. With the accent on the word 'man'.
  8. I'm very surprised at the way this thread has gone, because the usual way is to 'blame the teacher' And there's some good points made about teaching your children respect. Sadly lost on a sizeable minority of parents nowadays. I still believe that the majority of kids at school are at least willing to go along with the school, rather than fight it. But for every stirrer in a class, there'll be a 'fan club' of kids who won't incite trouble but will join in if they get the chance. My technique was to pick out the roughest kid in the class, and give them hell if they stepped a millim
  9. Good advice, especially if your bait is something the carp aren't wary of. I use Morrisons 'Value' frozen sweetcorn, about 60p for nearly a kilo. This has been reccommended as a cheap groundbait on a fishing forum I'm on: http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Pr...?ProductID=1214
  10. Toners Select Bar and Mulligans in Dublin. Can't remember going to a bad bar when I was in Killarny several years ago....
  11. Best post on carp fishing I've ever read.
  12. Yes, but according to another contributor on here, it's far better to get experience than read anything about a subject....
  13. Wouldn't the float take measurably longer to settle under such circunstances? I've always found that shotting wagglers down the line is rarely needed if you know your tackle.
  14. So how do you lock them onto the line without shot?
  15. Isn't 'staggers' magnesiun deficiency? If it is, I'm pretty sure it can be cured by an injection. And if that's the case, if you'd got the ferrets to the vets promptly they needn't have died. There's a lot of 'ifs' there because it's 30-odd years since I came across 'staggers'......
  16. A few details of the type of venue, size of carp targetted etc would be useful. The approach for a commercial with 4-10lb carp would be rather different to that for a pool with only a few big 'uns.
  17. If it's match carp then 8lb will be more than adequate, given a through-action rod.
  18. 'Lee' is doing his best, Coneytrappr. But given that he can't even remember what CommanderData's username on Flaming Ferret was, I'd say it would be a good idea to give up before the men in white coats arrive. He can't even remember how long he's kept ferrets. He claimed 50 years on this forum, but on a pet owner's website guestbook he claimed 40 years.....
  19. I'm not struggling with it now. I took it to someone that knows what they're doing......
  20. Nope, my eyesight is far too poor for that.....
  21. So you fix the car using trial and error rather than a Haynes Book of Lies then?
  22. Well......................erm......................its..................erm..... ...............................there................................ Sorry what did you say? I wouldn't fret, Mal. Flynn seems not to have taken exception to a rather more relevent post.
  23. Use your telephonic communication device to contact your local veterinary surgeon. In other words stop pissing around on here and ring the vet.
  24. In his own little head he is Y.I.S Leeview CD understands the difference between a genetic disorder and a viral contagion. Which is more than you seem to....
