  3. Now that sounds like a plan. Will try that tonight. They are very good close brothers, so it could just work. Thanks again to all the sugestions Matt just had a thoughits a bit late in the year now but if you or someone you know has a jill in season get her out and get her down holes with a coller on she mite just go right to the hob, either tht or bedding from her in a trap thats the way my boss does it and its worked 9 outa ten times, just watch if round u gets keepered iv had a few get loose and end up in one o the traps up the burn
  4. im guessin that was a billy mate iv seen something like that with a mink, bait it again and put fenns inside the catching chaber but close the doors nail them shut if poss so you cant be accused of illegal stuff if its a mink itl turn up, i wouldnt reccomend a wire just incase it is a black and white get some sand and wet it a bit put it round the cage and see what tracks turn up thats worked for me in the past
  5. now you got the other one back try and get some bedding with his scent on it and put it in a live catch trap that worked for me, if there is a rabbit net fence around with drop boxes set them away and theyl come to the scent of the caught rabbits a mates got lost on my ground and after a week of drop boxes i got him back

  7. nah theres no dischage, and it dosent look as though shes coming back into season, although itl likely take a while, i dont think she could have gave birth and eaten them because surely there would be blood? i would think there would be SOME sign... i'm assuming you clean her out every day ??? when my jills had their kits their bottom halves were rather bloody ... and it took a day or so for them to clean themselves up ... i think you would have noticed to be honest... my two also had phantom pregnancies early in the season... they both got fat .. and acted VERY pregnant
  8. nah theres no dischage, and it dosent look as though shes coming back into season, although itl likely take a while, i dont think she could have gave birth and eaten them because surely there would be blood?
  9. my jill was lined seven weeks ago this weekend, she was getting big and the usual teats becoming more prominent, but suddenly shes gone all thin. i thought shed had the young ones but when i had a look in her nest there was no sign not even any blood, is she just late or has she eaten them? there was a crash next to the house last week so i think this may have triggered her to eat them but wouldnt there be blood?
  10. I totally agree with you also the smaller ones last longer, I have had one going for around three months now (is this a record!!) , it seems to attract both big and small ones. Even better today it trapped a particularly nasty local that I ahve seen going through my hedges eating the song bird chicks in their next. dont know if this works on magpies but blow on the feathers on their breast, if under the feathers its got light downy fluff underneath its a cock if its just bare skin its a hen try that for sexing them and see if theres a pattern
  11. why do you need to rust a blade , i use openals of different sizes , and they are a great allround knife, good for skinning, gutting, cutting and pearing, hold a good edge and are cheap and reliable , saves paying a fortune for a fancy name , they do the same job, i used a whitby folder theyre ok but a pain to sharpen, got a cheap version on a buck knife its made by miki got it off a lad from sweeden for 10 fags it holds an edge and dirt cheap sweedish knife so if it gets lost no big loos
  12. magnums are crap for anything other than rail traps, nail four nails into a fallen tree over a burn or on a log to hold the trap in place then put the shield over theyre great rails but tunnels are too fiddly
  13. not that ud be where u shouldnt be eh shepp? i got and old milbro one off my grandad when i was 13 and just put black widow elastic on it, only ever shoot rats with it but its some peace like search ebay and theres usually an old milbro on there
  14. dont have a pic but what i use is a length of fence wire prefereably off an old fence so its weathered, cut it about the length of from your elbow to the tip of your fingers then the bottom end bend it into a tight hook and this stops the wire getting knocked, then to attach the snare just use some dark coloured electricians tape
  15. the best college in scotland for its thurso, borders isnt too bad i go there, sparsholt i had a mate that was there an left to come up to thurso, they dont like scotsmen down there lol
  16. a good way with the wire tealers espetially if sou have game in the woods you are useing them is to bend the bottom of the wire into a tight hook then when pushed down into the ground this stops the snare from being knocked
  17. good way to get the ravens lie out with the shotgun on a star shape flat on ur back stay still, the ravens will come in and circle over you, let them get lower and lower and them spring up and shoot them, my grandad used to do this years ago before they were protected and it worked for him
