ok im not a pest controller the professional lads might have better ideas, but what you want to be doing in my opinion is instead of just trying to kill the rats find out whats attracting them first, loose feed on the ground, feed not stored correctly etc, sort that out first then worry about dealing with the rats, when it comes to poisons your better off just getting a professional in from the word go i recon when i worked on a big pheasant shoot we used to get them round the feeders and gamecrops, the headkeeper was trained up in the poisons and what not hed deal with

not too sure abput weasels, but stoats those r the little shites u want to be trapping, a rabbits head in the box with the trap should do, if ur after stoats, or somtimes rats dont put the trap too close to the bait cos the little gits reach over and pull the bait into the trap iv caught more thn one stoat in a fenn tunnel chewing on the bait in the trap

thanks for the fast replys lads, iv just been out to check on her, no change so far but il keep giving her water, and been giving her little bits of shredded rabbit meat each time im out fingers crossed!

bough an escort for my first working gun, glad i got rid of the fecking thing now! mind mine did nothing but jam and bits fly off it nothing as serious as the barrel going like that, a few lads on teh estates round here have them and strangely enough for a peace of crap everyone seems to shoot well with them although i know it was a kids first gun but anyone looking for a decent working gun steer clear of an escort a beretta benelli or the new winchester auto (what iv got) are all the best in my opinion the winchesters probably the best because its built to last but not expensive eno

nah mate dont wash nout, burn everything, even water bottles iv had that before its not nice, i wouldnt take the chance, burn hutches bin bowls and bottles and start again, one thing iv found thats quite good is to get some vircon S (high spectrum disinfectant) and when u clean out the cages give it the once over with some of that in a scooshy bottle and let it dry, its safe as i use it on my cages and it gets used on the drinkers for the partridges

some of the portable cages we use have a lengh or rabbit letting which is halved long ways fixed onto the bottom of the ladder and can either hang loose or get a bit of snare wire to make a small funnel i prefer to use a peace of rylock instead of a funnel or ladder

bow-net trap, are they legal in uk?
murraywatt replied to greenman's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
we had a talk fromt he wildlife crime police at college not too long ago and they said the bow net trap was still legal for corvids but they were pushing for a ban as people were using them to catch raptors dont know if that could have came in as the talk was before the new general lisence came out -
it looks like it would make a good cover for a rail trap, might be rong size like, just needs something to reduce the entrance
