Hi
The bolt and pellet probe has a dog tooth on the under side which draws the hammer back to the sear when you cock the gun,The bolt would have uncocked back to where the hammer is ,when you squeezed the triger the hammer would have moved the bolt forward closing the breech but not as tight as if the bolt was locked down forwards.I doubt if the bolt would have uncocked enough to reload a second pellet.I have had a Rapid 7 for 12 years and have done it loads of times and has not had any effect on the gun.If you are worried you can remove the hammer and trigger mech and you can see the dog
