    Born Hunter
  1. Nice Dab indeed, i used to fish the Clevedon area of the Bristol channel from Kingston Seymour along the coast to Ladye Bay and usually had a good time.
  2. It really is unbelievable that such ignorance is still displayed by some people. I well remember a trip to Blagdon a few years back and as we were loading up the boat for a days trout fishing i spotted a Jack Pike in the boat dock. As i was discussing the fish with ny boat partner the Baliff overheard and came over to look, i carried on loading the boat only to look up and see the Baliff net the Pike and smash the net down hard on the concrete path around the boat dock. I gave him a right mouthful and complained to Bristol Water regarding his conduct. I would have thought i would have got
  3. Well done, as others have said hopefully the first of many, all the best.
  4. This book looks interesting and is on offer at £14.00 from Amazon at the mo.
  5. Just the sort of mindless cretins which society seems to throw up every now and then, shame we couldn't isolate them all from the rest of society. One thing i find incomprehensible is the post at the bottom of the comments page on the link, where some clown fails to see the difference in killing animals in such a mindless and pointless manner when compared to shooting them for sport. Sadly we are surrounded by idiots who seem to have had a logic bypass.
  6. I'm surprised that any company could even consider trading in this manner nowadays. Such poor service should really be a thing of the past, i know of retailers who's policy would be to lend you a rod whilst yours was being repaired. Sadly many manufacturers do charge an admin fee of £25-35 per section replaced, which i suspect is where they cover the cost of any claims.
  7. Had a stint on the Kennet & Avon 2 weeks back and sadly caught nothing, mind you given the volume of holiday canal barges i'm not too surprised.
  8. Couldn't agree more. Gamefairs are usually, well with the odd exception, well organised days out for anyone who enjoys country sports or indeed just the countryside. However they also serve another purpose which is showing people who would ordinarily never come across field sports exactly what they are missing out on. I have met many people at such fairs who are trying clay shooting or fly casting for the first time and are actually enjoying themselves and wondering why on earth they didn't do it years back.
  9. Surprised the Police actually turned up, trying to get the Police or EA out to poaching anglers is pretty much impossible. Mind you the Shotgun may have had a galvanising effect
  10. Know what you mean, i took last thursday off work for a spot of Grayling on the fly. Air temp was minus 4 degrees, and ice was forming on the rod rings as i made my way upstream. To make matters worse i had just the two fish for the day. Still better than working by the proverbial country mile
  11. Hi the fair was held at Trentham Gardens near Stoke on Trent. Well worth a visit nextyear if you tie your own flies. all the bet Fin & Fur
  12. Popped up to the British Fly Fair International on Saturday, and as in previous years was impressed by the variety of Tyers that where present from all corners of the world. This event is well worth a visit for anyone who 'rolls their own' flies and wants to see top tyers and spend all their hard earned on good quality materials. Did anyone else go this year ?
  13. Sadly my PB Cod is a mere 12lb'er, taken from Portishead steamer pier on Ragworm dug locally that very morning.
  14. Any knife with a full tang drop point blade, made of good quality stainless steel will fill my criteria of a hunting knife. Ideal blade length of 3.5-4.0 inches, Gerber Freeman fits the bill at the moment.
  15. Hi Born Hunter. It may well work on the day.But as we all know they would pick us off one at a time after it on dawn raid,s and call it law.We have to win in the court,s first.atb Catcher 1 Too true, they would doubtless start with the easy pickings, celebrities, famous faces with strong views etc. Within the last week Clarissa Dickson Wright has pleaded guilty to attending a Hare coursing event and was awarded an absolute discharge when the case came to court. So that was a good use of taxpayers money then, on a brighter note i see that in this countrymans weekly there is the news
