  1. Was a good show, weather exellent, didnt stay to see all the show ponies after a judge ran their hands all over a BITCH and never threw it out of the DOG class!!! Too busy looking at the other end of the lead perhaps??? Showing will always be the judges preferance, but i think this is a step the wrong way!!!!
  2. Went out for the first time this season. Not a huge amount about, pushed as many out of bushes as got out of buries. gave the dog a few good runs. Always the same this time of year, more above ground than below.Roll on the frosts!!
  3. £12 each to get in, no reduced entry fee and then pay to show/race dogs. Take a wedge with you, thats for sure!
  4. Keep an eye out on E-bay, if you see your stuff, arrange to go look at it and batter the person selling it.
  5. Anyone know what ferret parvo looks like. Went to see a mates ferrets yesterday, cos he's worried. 2 have lost weight and died in the space of 4 days, noe he has another loosing weight and going off his legs. Any ideas what it could be?
  6. I saw someone give a 'herbal tonic' to a dog at chatsworth this year, couldnt believe what i saw really. Has showing got so important to some people that they have to drug their dogs to go well in the ring? Does a rosette mean so much. I thought that the lurcher world was above all that sort of thing? Or is it because you can charge silly money for your pups if the parents have done well in the show ring? Soon we will have 2 strains of lurchers, those who chase and those who ponce about. I pray that this doesnt happen, but with people drugging dogs to show them, whatever next.?
  7. not bad,but the jug had bin on the job for 2hrs and dident no his arss from his elbow, i put a 26in bitch in the under 23in and got 4 just to prove a piont.but!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the land of the blind the man with one eye is king, Hmm, he didnt know his arse from his elbow, but the bitch he put as his champion also won the EDRD working championship. So is that 2 judges who dont know what their at, or did he in fact do a good job and should we not encourage young judges???
  8. Well we went and had a great day, setting was perfect next to the river, bloke flying the birds of prey was very knowledeable, using a bird and a saluki to course hares sounds interesting, id like to see that in action. As for the lurcher and terrier people, very friendly, judging both days very good, different judges, different views, and that is what you go into the ring for, the verdict of the judge in front of you at the time. I liked the idea of a grand final for all the winners of lurcher, terrier, whippet and gundog and racing champions, exellent idea and well run. This lot deserve m
  9. bugger, didnt work. still trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Anyone know what time the showing starts?
  11. Labour have had it, on the downward slide. Exellent results in the local elections. The ban being lifted is just a matter of time.
  12. Have we got to the stage where we knock hunt shows as well as game fairs? I think that as all shows are a bit of fun during the summer, and that each and everyone of us owns the best dog in the world, we should pull together, and not slag each other off. Divide and rule is a very good thing to remember. Show classes only cost a quid, if you dont win big deal, you cant eat a rosette or trophy, so whats the worry? I would like to congratulate the Bicester for putting on lurchers as well, quite a few hunts dont. For everyone who goes, well done for supporting the hunts, and remember the labour
