You'll have a maggot farm not a larder. Get em gutted , dressed and in the oven / freezer.

I'll eat your limpets as long as the cider comes free if not you can stick your limpets somewhere smooth & purposeful

I was in Cornwall a fortnight ago and went sea fishing for the first time, had a good day caught these mackeral, and the kids had the pollack. But the rocks were covered with limpets, I got a few as you can see on the pic. I used the blunt end of my priest to knock em off, I held it about 1/2 an inch away and smacked the other end. If you tap one then abandon it, all you do is end up smashing the shell. I boiled em till they came away from the shell then sauted them in butter and, after trying them, felt I should have left them be. It was like chewing a rubber ( of the eraser kind!! ).

I think it might be a bit early yet for puffballs, we get them on our shoot some years but it's normally July / August time

any good recipes for rook
Smokoe replied to pistol pete's topic in Living Off The Land & Game Cooking
I made a rook pie last year, took the form of a meat & potato. Dice the the breast meat, dice an equal amount of gammon, finely chop an onion and fry. Boil a diced potato and carrot and when cooked mix all together and season, at this point it seemed bit dry so instead of stock I added some Campbells condensed chicken soup to get a nice consistency. Line a pie dish with short crust pop the mixture in, put a top on and cook. I had some pastry and filling left and made a pasty too. It was very tasty, but on it's own rook is quite bland it deffinatley needs some gammon with it howev -
