after a day or so or when they have completely dried off and got that easter egg fluffy lookk to them lol, get your brooder box switched on now so the temp is pre heated for them to go in, chick crumbs put in egg cartons, as they will make a hell of a mess when they feed, shit and all sorts in it, just pick, throw away and put the other half of the egg box in, chep, safe and above all else, hygienic for the chicks. whats prob causing this is wear in the chamber, allowing the brass too much room to expand, thus splitting it, only other possibillities have already been covered, ie magnum shell in standard chamber. Theres not enough support for the brass when the charge goes off, so the brass expands until it meets its constraints, over expanding and splitting. Reloading boys will tell you that its a sure sign of too much powder charge, or too fast / hot a powder being used in a rifle bullet. Hope this helps.
