  1. I agree, a very good working bitch is worth her weight in gold, not just for the actuall day to day use as a worker, but with the possibillity of using her as a brood should she consistently perform to a high level for a good number of seasons. The same rule of thumb should be applied to all potential sires or dams to future litters, they should have consistently performed very well for a number of seasons (at least 5 ideally), before even being considered for use in breeding a litter, regardless of name, type, lines etc etc etc, working abillity is the number 1 quality to be looked for in
  2. superb mally, top condition. If that was in bad light, then i'd love to see good light pics lol.
  3. Working seasons under the belt is of more consequence than any names in my humble opinion, if you have 5 or 6 seasons proven, reliable, working under their belt and also from a known working strain, well thats a bonus, but only that. The entrance of the hole is where the world of fantasy stops and reality begins, regardless of breeding etc. Mike Tyson has sons, dont mean they are going to be world heavy weight champions does it ??? Regards B
  4. apparently it starts at 1.30pm folks if anyone is interested. Should be a good show, hope the weather holds out for it,meant to be dry.
  5. Looks mean f**k all to a working dog mate, unless you particularly look for showing dogs. Temperament is a good starter with a pup, healthy, bold and alert, confident, other attributes will come as it gets older, like attitude and prey drive / determination as it progresses again. You may notice that theres one that catches your eye every time you go to the pups, and you may also find that the same pup starts making a bee line for you every time it sees you.....the choice is yours mate. But whatever you do, dont just keep a pup because its pretty for fucks sake. All the best with your c

  9. get another lure, put it the opposite end of the field and put the rag in the middle and then you can run the dogs both ways with out having to move a yard, brill !
  10. send him a pm mate, he'll look after you alright. You wont be dissapointed i can guarantee you that.

  12. good on you staffy, keep us posted mate, i bet he turns out for you. well done you. Regards B
  13. 47....in your prime flower dont look a day over 25
  14. yes, i would have thought so. i give my pups two or three jabs over a period recommended by the manufacturer. Just ask your vet, tell him your not sure if its been done, and you want some advice, i bet he'll rip you off a few quid and do them again, its worth it for peace of mind imo. Your choice.
  15. Mate, if the person you had him off couldnt be arsed or couldnt afford to worm it, i think its highly unlikely that he would have bothered jabbing it. The only way you will know for certain id get it done yourself, 11 weeks is a good age to do it as the antibodies he would have had from the bitch through milk etc will have long gone now, and will let him bui;d up his own resistance / immunity when you vaccinate him. Given your lack of experience with such matters, take it to the vet to get it done. It may save the dogs life in the future who knows.
  16. Take notice of this advice given matey, its genuine correct advice bourne from years of experience, you wont go far wrong if you adhere to it.
  17. there may be eggs inside him that will hatch out and turn into worms, thats why its important to do it regularly to break the cycle, no adult worms = nothing to lay more eggs. With drontal you rarely see any worms coming out as the way they work is to remove the protective coating that covers the worms and the dogs digestive juices will dissolve them, he must have had a fair bellyfull .
  18. His body will make a lot better use of the ammont you are normally giving him. If he was looking ok on what you were feeding him before with all those worms in him, it cant be far off the mark. Give him lots of small meals a day, as much as he wants, you need to get good timber under any building, his timber is his bones and muscle. The advice about squaring him up with a shake by the scruff and a stern no is also very good advice, the pup will learn to heed your voice in the future and respond to it rather than do something and expect a slap. You can stop him as he's going to do something
  19. Sounds just fine to me mate, you done him the biggest favour ever by worming him, just watch him grow now, he'll be like a mushroom growing in front of your eyes lol
  20. I would imagine so mate. Was he in good health ( apart from probably a pot belly) before you gave him a wormer ??, if he was then he will probably improve dramatically now. But do him again in about 2 weeks.
  21. its normal if the pup hasnt been wormed regularly as it was growing, It should have been done at 2 weeks old and every fortnight until 3 months old and then every three months. Your pup will thankyou for getting rid of those out of its guts. Do it again in a fortnight, follow the instructions to the letter on the pack regarding dose etc. And yes, if left untreated, it could have killed it in time, drawing any nourishment in its food to feed them and not the pup. Your pup will grow in front of your eyes now without that shit in its guts. Regards B
  22. Nice mike, thats what you call proper flesh reared lol. I must get another ferret, i dont think you ever let go completely, even after a few years without one. Nice kits they are mike, fair play to you mate. Regards B
