many years ago, ( over 25 actually) i worked for the local authority on drains / sewers etc, and we went to one new place that was just built, they had run a length of 3" pipe for about 200 yds for telephone cables electricity etc, never thought to put some rope through it before they buried it, so the builder who was a mate of my gaffer asked us to come up to try and run rods through, way too tong a stretch. So i went home, got one of my ferrets, tield a length of fishing line to his locator collar, and dropped him in the bottom end, not many minutes passed before he was out at the top lo

sorry to put a damper on things guys, i have a defender 300tdi, 1997, 115,000 mile, does aprox 30mpg, passes mot every year ( apart from when needed brake pipes etc due to corrosion, and new rear cross member), get under it once a year to service it, twice a year to spray black oil on the chassis. pulls my trailer full of firewood like a f****n train ( 8x4 with high sides ifor williams) etc etc, and to the contrary, i have had jap crap........ i would never consider anything else than a landrover tbh, had her second hand from 3 years old............... pulled many a "jap" 4x4 out of shit. But i will also say this, there are, as has already been stated, working dog men / women out there who work their dogs regular and hard, who dont write books, and perhaps without this sort of person the standard of working dogs in the country would fall, but it doesnt mean for one minute that some who do write occasionally have lesser quality stock. Myself, i have shit dogs and cant spell f***ing oxo, so, i like to hear about others out in the field

if i do as much at his age as dave harcombe does. and indeed, have the desire to do so, i'll be a happy man. he's not a fame hungry man i dont think, but an excellent author that has done more with terriers than a lot of us ( myself included) will ever do. If you think that he's just after fame and recognition, i think you are grossly mistaken. I have seen his terriers, they would grace any working terriermans yard. Just my humble opinion. Are you putting them both in at the same time? As I was told lime and manure should be added at different times as each if added together they cancel each other out in benifits to the soil. Are you putting the ash where you are going to plant potatoes next year? From what I have read it is not a good idea as the ash raises the PH levels of the soil to the detrement of the potatoes.The brasicas will enjoy the ash though. TC I am spreading the whole lot over the whole plot and f**k the consequences . nitrogen in the chicken shit and potash in the woodash will do more good than harm

i used to work for a firm that did a lot of strimming of roadside verges/ motorways etc, if you had a short sleeved high viz on and hit that giant hogweed, you'd have burn blisters all up your arms, f****n hatefull stuff it is.

took your advice jack......cut off all excess foliage on the toms, flowers etc literally the following day, some started turning orange . Thank f**k for that, a lot of arsing about making green tom chutney lol. Cheers mate

As above, terrier and lurcher show, an annual show that goes from strength to strength. Qualifier for EDRD North Wales and Pride of the Peaks. All classes for terriers and Lurchers as normal. Lurcher racing after the showing, £25 prize money for fastest lurcher. Gates Open at 1pm. Postcode is LD1 6EL. Between Rhayader and Llandrindod Wells, Mid Wales. two of mine have it, yet the others dont, same food, same bedding, same everything, tried all sorts over the years, no soreness or irritation, just dont like it to look like that. Vet reckons quite often its a genetic thing ????? but the one dog i have has it, yet his full sister doesnt?? f****d if i know tbh. -
