Hey rev! This thread is of particular interest to me, in the process of obtaining visas for australia and probably going to make the move to South Australia, somewhere outside of adelaide. Was wondering do you know what can legally be coursed with dogs in South Australia? I am finding it difficult to get this info. There is plenty of info on what can be hunted, however there is always reference to firearms, never the use of dogs. If you don't know the answers maybe you could point me in the direction of a good aussie hunting forum? Cheers mate.

Question about australian formula complete
twosey replied to twosey's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Hmmm, been there done that and although they were fab on it, I just did not find it at all conveinient. Having to order in massive amounts of food at once for it to be economical, then having to remember to get the dog food out the night before to defrost for the next day, having once per month deliveries and then missing the cut off for ordering and so couldn't get another order in for another month. I might look into it again and try and source my meats locally for a decent price, and don't have to run a huge freezer in my garage either. but in the meanwhile will try and find a decent comp -
Question about australian formula complete

Thanks for that Paddy, theres wheat it in it anyway so no good to me. Am getting a pup on the weekend and am looking into affordable quality feeds for my 3 dogs. My eldest has always been on dr john platinum and thrives, but is not a lurcher so hasn't really needed high energy food. My lurcher boy has had digestive issues and we found he is wheat intolerant so have had to play around with his food to find one thats ideal. he's currently on harringtons which suits him really well, although not high protein/fat like these high energy foods are. All other foods we have tried have made him stink ( -
Hi all, after some of your advice, my lurcher chipped his canine midweek and has been having problems eating his food. I am planning on taking him to the vet tomorrow, but was just wondering what to do in case they say they want to remove it? Do you think it would affect his rabbiting ability? Does anyone know if there are any alternatives a vet may or can offer (eg root canal) before I just go ahead with the vets first suggestion? Might it be better to go to a speciality dental vet? Suggestion please??? Dewi

Have you thought about food intolerances? My lurcher looked emaciated until i put him on raw diet, it was not perfect for him either so tried him back on complete and he lost weight again. I then put him on a gluten/wheat free complete (wagg @2.20 for a 2kg bag, cheaper than some of the top end branded ones and fine for my dog) and he is doing absolutely fine now. Just a suggestion you could look into? Dewi

Hi All, got my 1999 t reg skoda felicia for sale. 1.3 petrol. It has low mileage 47000, new MOT (just prior to christmas), very reliable, its my second car have been using for lamping have cleaned as best I can, still a bit hairy. Seats fold down completely in rear so can fit a few dogs, (I get three in the boot section alone) It will need a good valet if using for everyday use if not good to go as a workhorse!! Timing chain does rattle, which is very common on the felicia, it does not affect the car at all, which is a very reliable starter even in this bitterly cold weather. No ta

I hope so, im not expeting him to be super fantastic, cos he's my first lurcher, and its as much a learning curve for me as him. But finally working well on the lamp, caught a few, needs to get a little faster, that that will come with the running after balls and stuff im getting him to do. My problem is is finding where the bunnies are lurking around my area!!! -

Heres my lurcher dog, called Boots (my 3 year old named him!! her fav cartoon is Dora!) just worked it out hes nearing 16 months old, and is 22". He is 1/4 whippet 1/4 beddy 1/4 greyhound 1/4 bull. Hes coming into his own now and starting to take a few bunnies. Had issues with him as a pup up until at least 8 months was always emaciated, it turned out to be a diet thing, he couldn't tolerate dry food probably the wheat, and is now fed a raw diet. I think he's looking good now, what do you lot think

lovely dogs mate, weather looks truly harsh though! Although the landscape is beautiful! Dunno If I could cope with that weather, I want to escape the cold, thinking of migrating to Oz haha. Have you seen the boar hunting over there? Crazy!
-
There are lots of good reviews about them, maybe you got a duff one? It is good to see a negative opinion though, makes sure dont just jump in after a couple of rave reviews. Surely they gotta be preferred weight wise, cos once you got the massive lead acid battery and a good couple of bunnies on yer back the weight sure adds up!

She looks nice mate, whats the breeding?

Been thinking of getting one of these, you guys all seem to think they are good, may well bite the bullet!
