So let me get this right a gun shop will fill a full 12 litre bottle for 2 quid? The reason im asking is that i asked at my local gun shop if i was to buy a pcp would they fill the buddy bottle and he said yes £2.50 a fill So it cost around the same price for a gun shop to fill a buddy bottle as it does to fill a 12 litre bottle? Maybe i have totally missed the boat on this one and have confused myself something stupid Dave As a long time diver I was always told the air is free - it's the labour involved in filling the bottle that is the cost. So I suspect your dive s

I've an AA s410 carbine with Ben Taylor Reg and a Portland Jon silencer. The mans as good as his word. They are quiet

It seemed your brush with the law ended on level terms. There's a long string from a guy on airgunbbs who was arrested and gun confiscated. He was reported by a trespasser for shooting songbirds. he wasn't and was on land with permisiion. Many contributors recommended contacting BASC but he's not a member. Still not resolved. Worth watching to see the outcome.

I use a Deben Tracer Mini (sometimes with a red filter) with a Hawke MAP (without illuminated croos-hairs) to good effect. The only additional advice I would suggest is to buy the version with a brightness control. I find sometimes a sudden blast of strong white light scares the s**t out of the bunnies and they b***er off rapido. With the dimmer switch you can switch on at low power to pick out the twinkle in their eyes then having identified your target gently increase the power for the perfect shot. I mount the switch at the left hand side of fore end of the stock and you can switch on

If you think it's a pellet problem then one way of avoiding purchasing lots of expensive tins to find they do not suit your gun is to buy the Pellpax multi-sample pack. They have a website. My AA S410 loves AA field 5.52's. Incidentally does "(bordering over the 12f/lb mark)" mean you have a FAC for this shoot / gun? regards

There is a risk in buying a dive bottle out of test. If it fails the test you don't get it back. It's chopped in half, they return (if asked) the boot and pillar valve and you still pay for the privilege. My advice would be to ask the vendor to have the bottle tested and if it passes you will then pay what he wanted for the untested bottle plus the cost of the test. This way the vendor takes the risk. Advice based on many (wife says too many) years as diver / instructor HTH

Paunch one of the rabbits you shoot and leave it with guts showing where you have good view from window. As others have said, leave window open and draw curtains leaving a gap. Shoot from inside the room through the gap. It helps quieten the shot. I'm inner city (but shoot on farms) and deploy this tactic with white marbles in a home made birds nest on the back lawn for magpies off the adjacent allotment. Also I use chicken eggs in a home made nest. The shots are muffled from being inside the property (Portland Jon silencer) and the pellets from upstais window go into the lawn so no stray

If you're working to a budget then do not forget that you have to get air into your PCP, either by a pump or air / dive cylinder and decanting hoses & gauges. The hidden extras!!

I know nothing about your gun. I've an AA S410 carbine with Ben Taylor regulator and use AA fiel 5.52. But the general situation is that despite good machining no two barrels in the same model gun are necessarily precisely the same. In practice therefore 5.51's may work better for one S410 whereas 5.52's work better for another. It really is a case of trial and error until you find out what suits your particular gun the best. Try getting pellets from Pellpax who provide sample packs of various manufacture / sizes and working at it until you get consistent groupings which indicate wha

What you have to bear in mind with cylinders is the type of pillar valve it has and whether it would be classed as a diving cylinder or not. In the airgun magazines there are adverts for cylinders with pillar valves and integrated gauges which could not be used for diving. These are the type also generally sold by gunshops> They are for surface use only and need only to be tested evry 5 yrs from date of manufacture. If, however the pillar valve is either a DIN or "A" clamp fitting which can support diving then any air station would have no alternative but to regard it as a diving cylin

If you (or a mate) are a member of BASC the I recommend you consult their very helpful firearms officers. That way you will get fact not fiction. Regards

I too have been diving for a similar period and amongst other things I am qualified both as a gas mixer and blender (Nitrox) and compressor operator. I therefore echo the sound advice about using anything other than air in your pcp. The results could be lethal! As to the original thread about testing the buddy bottle then as it would on inspection not be suitable for underwater use then I believe it would require a test every 5 years from the date of manufacture (Which should be stamped on the neck of the bottle). I was intrigued with the Q? on testing your PCP so I spoke to the nice f

I'm not a moaner. Nor, after over 40yrs of shooting, currently with access to 5 farms, am I an armchair shooter. And I am not going to waste my time exchanging moronic insults BUT.......What concerns me greatly and should be of concern to all of us is posts which imply that we are not responsible in our approach and attitude to our sport. You seem unable to see that this does nothing but feed the anti airgun lobby which, if you keep your eyes on the press, is increasing. Certainly the Scottish Parliament wish to ban airguns in Scotland. And the press are fed by mindless morons who shoot at

"It was a spectacular shot" + "and when shot flew off". Clearly not a head shot and clearly not a clean kill. How spectacular is that??
