  4. 1st of all i suggest you put this post into (Reloading, Optics, Ammunition & Accessories),you will have a bit more feedback.2nd i assume you mean a 22 Lr but there are a couple more 22 rimfire types out there that each shoot different distance. As for the scopes,if your not shooting anywhere past 100yards then i would go for the 4-16x50.You wont need to zoom as far out as 24 because it will look blurred so i think going for something in the middle would be a good idea.Hope iv helped you out a bit!
  5. well i think these ones have come from a place about 8 miles from the nursery in a park like place where the public can see them.Probaly the reson why they were so tame!
  6. Mate called me up last night and fancied a bit of bunny bashing at a garden nursery where he works. His boss had been loosing a lot of plants recently. We arrived at our destination and walked the first part as it was fairly dry there. The hard thing about shooting bunnies in a place like this is that you have row upon row of tree's and plants so most of the time the bunnies will skip from one row to the next.Anyway's we popped about 10 good distance ones which i was pretty chuffed about. We then went to the next part which we drove around.Having been there before,i know the ground quite well. All
  7. Try this one, might work and might not.If its a tracer with a clip on mount i have found that it requires a fair effort to push it onto the scope so maybe thats putting the scope out so try setting the rifle with the lamp attatched (may look silly) and dont take it off.Go for a shine and see what happens then! Not practical i know but it may come to the bottom of the problem!good luck
  8. I know mate, just one of them things aint it!

  10. Went out last nite with a couple of mates to see if we could have some chrlies.Looked in about 7 different fields on one land permission with only bunnies to see .We then went to my mates house and had a look on a long field again with only bunnies to see.One of my mates went home but in a last effort to get one we went on some more permission for a quick shine,1st field had nothing in but sheep.Went down to the next couple of fields, had a shine but could not see anything .As we were just about to put the lamp away and head home,my mate spotted a fox coming down the side of the fence.I qui

  16. Went out last nite for a quick shine with my mate on another mates farm for charlie.Arrived there and walked though the farm and into the first field with nothing to see.So we dicided we would go to the next field were the sheep were in.We scanned the field a couple of times with only sheep to see.Next thing, right in the middle of the flock was Mr fox.I possitioned myself but unable to make the shot due to the sheep in the way my mate gave calling a go and sure enough he come flying towards the call.Got to about 80yards and froze in the beam side on.I possitioned the cross hair on his heart an
  17. Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows the procedure for adjusting a trigger on the sako quad??cheers
  18. Its a shame that people come on here and ruin someones post by telling them that they are shooting to much....its a hunting forum NOT wildlife SOS.Its up to you what kind of hunting you like and if you want to let them go then fine but im affraid not everyone thinks you way. Nice shooting by the way foxhunter!!!
  19. Not sure about the after rain bit but in my experiance with foxes yes a freshly harvested field does seem to attract them.
  20. from reading your post it sounds like you want your ticket opened up am i right ? so you can use your rifles on any ground you have permission over or incase you get more ground so you wont have to get it checked then. by looking at your fac ticket they can see how much you have used your rifle by the ammo amounts. that is a good thing to point out. also you could tell them you have missed out on new shooting ground because the farmer has asked you to do the vermin control on there but you would hve to see if the land is passed 1st Im having the same problem, just cant think of
  21. I too am playing the waiting game - got deposits on a brand new CZ 22lr and used Miroku shotgun. Had my visit 2 weeks ago but the local force has a back log of certs to issue so it could still be a couple more weeks (it could however be today!) Are you saying you've sent it off already with that section not filled in? - they may just send it back and get you to complete it. If you have sent land letters with the application then they might take the info from them. Ring your firearms department and ask if it's being processed or being returned? Yes you do have to fill that par
  22. hi there, just wondering if anyone knows of a good ammo holder for .17HMR bullets?at the moment i keep them in the box while out lamping but they tend to make a terrible rattling sound which all of you know is not ideal when trying to stalk vermin.Any help on this would be much appriciated.
  23. Not really sure how much your thinking of spending but iv got a .17hmr sako quad synthetic and i love it.Super accurate, light weight,no worries about scratching wooden stock + if you did fancy going back to 22lr,you just change the barrel, the rifle costs roughly £500.The HMR will make a mess of rabbits so only head shots if selling or eating them.Iv shot a fair few foxes with it,some out to 150yards so dont belive some of these people who say its only good on foxes within 50-70 yrds.hope iv been some help to you. i no a hmr would kill a fox if you aim the shot right at 150 yards ! but
