  1. dogs are getting nicked all the time, good and bad workers some even none workers, people who big there dogs up on the internet saying "it dose this and dose that" will be attracting unwanted attention even more, even tho they are probably talking shit. alot of good dog men know which dogs are doing well from word of mouth.
  2. I'm a sucker for pups I like the idea of training and entering and having the dog from 6-8weeks and watching it grow and learn. As I said I dont think you get that with an older dog. I'm sure that there are genuine guys out there who pass on dogs for legit reasons but given the time and effort you need to put into a dog training wise then bringing it on what price do put on that. 9 outa 10 times someone passing on a full grown dog is doing it for a reason and its not always a good one
  3. at the start of last season i had a 3ry old dog on trail for 1 1/2 months the owner was dogged out at the time with my other two lurchers laid up with bad injuries and not knowing when they would recover i needed something to run as it was start of the season the dog a 3/8 5/8 bullx caught me plenty of game, worked well and got on with my other dogs the only problem i had was i could`nt bond with the dog and it wasnt through lack of trying, the dog went back to its original owner ,and i looked out for an older pup that i could bring on myself. i found a 10 month salukigreycolliewhip for s

  7. good stuff Ray and well to to the dogs nice bit of grub there for you and the mrs, good to see Todd taking it all in ,hes looking well
  8. like the way the fawn in the 3rd vid hits the deck when it sees the dog what kind of deer are they, look like red????
  9. they eat what ever they catch plus meat off cuts, chicken wings etc from the local butcher i use a good complete meal and mix that in too,oh ye and cod liver oil every other day
  10. as i said when i found out i could run her it took about 1 1/2 month to get her fit from not being fit, stamina is mostly bred in to a dog, it either has it or it dosnt, IMO fitness is a diffrent thing altho a dog will be able to run for longer if its fitter and would be quicker if it not over weight
  11. good grub and plenty of exercise. lamping regular gets them fit
  12. this dog was totaly unfit due to an 11 month lay off with ligament damage on her front right ankle she did no running at all,and very little walking in that time, i had to slowly build her back up to get the ligaments strong again buy road walking every day, after the vet said i could start to run her again when the leg was strong it took about a month and a half to get her fully fit . HARE IN PICC WAS SHOT AND RETRIEVED.
  13. looks like a good mooch dogs are looking well Ray..
  14. dont worry mate, its not sad you asking it can make a world of diffrence with a dogs running career, lurchers with bad feet can spend most of their time laid up due to knocked up or even broken toes.. good feet are when the toes are tight together as opposed to having gaps in between them also like the picc above the knukcles are arched instead of flat, hence the term "flat footed"
  15. agree said the same thing last year its a joke if you have more than one dog to run never mind just having one the now just not happening where i am over 2weeks of bad snow then week of solid ground till now and still ongoing? no good for the running dogs its all part and parcel.. oh the joys.... summer hunting is the future....
  16. people all have their own views on road walking, ive found its good for keeping them ticking over when its impossible to run them, keeps the claws down when done regular, with young dogs it can be good on a busy main road to get them focusing their attention on your voice, in stead of everything going on around them.
  17. my advice is... if you run your puppy now mate there is a VERY good chance you will ruin it for ever. what is the rush? your pup needs to grow first,i would be concentrating on basic training at this age . time gose very quick, next season will be here before you know it. if you do it right now you will reap the rewards later.
