  1. Has anyone got a picture of one of those traps finished? I can't quite seem to understand it.
  2. theres a right to roam law in scotland, so no.. I don't know, it might be tresspassing, as you don't have the right to roam in scotland if you're illegally in pursuit of game, so maybe this comes under it. Criminal damage maybe, so he probably was trespassing.
  3. Nah, think it might have been a little steep. But I did swap them for some leather related things and another for some climbing gear.
  4. I have learned two things about you then, that you are not a dwarf and not a lesbain. That narrows it down.
  5. Got one pollack which was rather small. The net was rather small and I arrived at mid tide. I'm not even sure if bass even reach where I'm fishing but I know they definitely are further along so I thought I'd try. And mackem, why aren't you a member? We don't just eat worms.
  6. I'm not electrocuting them, a guy I talked to was doing it. I'm just curious as to how you do your gill nets. BCUK is good isn't it? You a member? Although I'd imagine some of your pictures might upset them somewhat.
  7. Aye, it's pretty hard to get off glue once you're caught. So, the knot is...
  8. Your spelling is normally excellent, as you said. Shame about the grammer though. I think goridan curry definately has to have some spinach in it. So what's the knot really? ATMO I'm using a reef knot and then applying a drop of epoxy which works nicely but a different method would be good as the epoxy is sticky and I've lost my syringe so I have to guess the mix. Maybe you could get some syringes thrown in next time one of your family tries exporting tea chests again?
  9. Quit teasing, what really is it. I assume by goridan you mean gordian knot?
  10. Mackem, where did you get your floatline and stuff from? Just interested to see if I can get a cheaper supplier. And BTW, what knot/lashing do you use to fix the net to the floatline and leadline? Cheers
  11. Brandy ain't cheap, would soaking raisins in meths make the pheasants caught with it poisonous?
  12. Well I don't know where you are, but if you put a gill net out up here, and set at 90degrees to the beach, you would fill the net with salmon, which is not allowed. Plus baliffifs would swoop on it possibly, and the fines for taking salmon aren't good. Set parrallel to the beach would mean more weed and stuff in the net but much less salmon. If you're looking for gill nets, if you pm me, I can rig you something up depending on what you want.
  13. The only reason I could think of as to why they'd weaken would be the rabbits struggling in them, my nets have never been affected by sunlight as far as I know.
  14. i use multimono and it lies outside for 2 to 3 month and it dosent go brittle ! were do you get the nets from can you get 12 ply multimono & if so what size are the nets ? & size of the meshes ? cheers I can probably get you almost any kind of multimono net you desire, in most sizes, I rig gill nets for a living. Any I don't have I can order in. PM me telling me what you want and I'll see.
  15. The only way technology improves is by doing things that haven't been done before. I'm surprised the difference between 4 and 4 1/2" is so great in terms of rabbits, but oh well. So 4" would hopefully be all right? Mono goes brittle maybe, but does multimono do the same?
  16. That's 4 1/2" stretched mesh, surely a rabbit wouldn't fit through that? Equivalent to a 2 1/4" square hole.

    Mono nets

Why does no one seem to use mono nets? I can get them so cheap, £5 for 200yards by 4' and 4 1/2"mesh. Is it just because of tangling when putting them away? As mono nets are light and cheap, so I'm thinking of building a longnet from one. My dog when running about got tangled pretty well in a net of the same specs when I was rigging it for fish, so I imagine rabbits would get caught too? Is it because rabbits will rip holes in them? That wouldn't really matter, as after a few uses you just need to buy a new net.
