  2. Hi all Does or has anyone shipped dogs abroad? I have the opportunity to relocate to Canada/US & obviously dont & wont go without my dogs (2 lurchers & 2 terriers) I imagine its complicated & expensive however if they dont go then neither do i If anyone knows or has experience of the procedure then any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers The Chimp
  3. Had a good season weather has been a nuisance around xmas particularly I started out in early september not really knowing what to expect having got a collie/greyhound bitch from local rescue in may & weve gone from strength to strength, i was certain that the first time i slipped her she would bugger off & that would be that but she didnt & weve had some great sport on rabbits large & small  just a few months ago i came by a pup of unknown breeding allegedly a greyhound & she had her first night last week & caught 2 on the trot followed by 3 a couple of nights
  4. Its a dog mate if it were a fox you would be able to draw an imaginary straight line between its main back pad & its 2 outside pads if you see what i mean? a bit difficult to explain without a diagram, thats a nice looking dog youve got there mate!! Best Regards The Chimp

Mines a 110 ex V8 with a replacement 2.8 trooper engine in & its awesome! tough as old boots with trooper reliability & cheap landy running gear-no frills no gadgets just simple like me,if you wanna watch hounds working you just clamber up on the roof or cut the top of garden hedge stand on the bonnet&trim away.Had a variety of 4wd,s & for off roading this 110&previous trooper have been the best, the jap stuff is so expensive&complicated!! The Chimp

  7. Which bassets are you off to see mate?they are much better than squeaky old beagles! ! when they really own a line the cry from them is pure magic!slow perhaps but it can be some of the best houndwork to watch!!ive seen the warwks beagles a few times & was impressed Best Regards The Chimp

  11. I have got or i think ive got a W/GXS/w pup (if i wasnt a technological f***wit id post some pics!) & i was wondering if anyonelse had one & what is/are they like? Shes about 11months old & i got her from a pet home-they couldnt keep her for personal reasons & she seems to have a fair amount of ability & is fairly obedient with the basics at least, shes bloody sharp, before i collected her they described her as a greyhound pup which she definately isnt, 21/22 inches at the shoulder with a saluki type head just wondered if anyone else had anything similar & how has he/she
  12. AMEN to that ROB to me hunting whether its with ferret, lurcher, hound, terrier, horse or whatever is all about what it means to that particular individual & how they interperate it,that is something the anti,s will never understand! nor take from us good hunting folk!! Good hunting to all The Chimp
  13. I reckon STIHL chainsaw boots are about the best boots for the job if a bit heavy! waterproof/thornproof/well protected/warm & compfey-tweed thornproof jacket is pretty much the same spec too. Oh in case i forget a spade is an essential piece of kit-for all that diggin!! The Chimp

  15. Off to the bookies for me!!! an english horse as well Irishman on board though hell of a ride from Ruby!! you cant beat the festival i love it
  16. Whose gonna win the Gold Cup/Champion Hurdle/Champion Chase etc etc??? Are we gonna beat the Irish!? bloody hope so What about the leading jockey/trainer?? The Chimp
  17. My personal preference of ferret is one that doesnt bite/skulk or leave a rabbit underground dead or otherwise & i believe providing you dont make a bloody great racket on or around your intended warren & work downwind of it there shouldnt be to many lie-ups,there are of course going to be times when digging is unavoidable & rather than hanging about waiting half an hour for rabbits to bolt i think its better to give it 5 mins try & find a consistent mark & get on with it & get the job moving again , it also depends on what sort of sett your working ie if its a big old
  18. Now heres an idea!! the next time someone gets a definate sighting i will turn up with my bloodhound&rotty/terriers&lurchers & have a bash at hunting it! completely legal as it would be classed as a non british mammal & probably very good fun! the old hound will hunt just about anything-the neighbours terrier  ,the neighbour&his family ,people on push bikes  ,the missus etc etc etc the rest of them can finish the job off PS no reference to hunting big pussies thankyou The Chimp
  19. Hi John I started up last year pretty much the same as you after having a lurcher or two some years back i got involved again & bought & borrowed a few books I found Jackie Drakefords-Understanding the working lurcher & Plummers The new complete lurcher to be informative & entertaining reads, both have useful ideas & info but as always no one persons views are gospel but they do give you a good base to start on & make your own judgements Regards The Chimp
  20. Hi i also got the netmaking kit The Hob spoke about & found it very good ,personally the traditional method as shown proved to be the easier of the two to make, i now have lots & lots of lovely hemp nets & not a nylon one in sight thank god!! (just my personal preference) Regards The Chimp
  21. Thats a smart looking pup Hob , a good mate of mine has one very similar in looks & breeding hope shes as good for you as his is for him Best Regards The Chimp
  22. I suppose it all depends on whether you go just for sport or on a pest control exercise--sport you leave them be for another season but if are having to please your landowners then you keep buggering in & accept the consequences ie: lay ups on little uns , it may mean the difference in keeping permission in some cases-i personally keep going as long as possible & start again as soon as conditions ie: undergrowth & temperature allow The Chimp
  23. Afernoon T.J. If you have any access to a portamag magnotherapy unit theyre definately worth a go i can vouch for their effectiveness on greyhounds & cant see why it woudnt help your JRT most trainers use them if you happen to know any? theyre horrendously expensive to buy though your oldman sounds a goodun!! Regards The Chimp
  24. DEFRA are field testing a new initiative for farmers--Growing Dildo,s!!!!!! Apparently trials are going very well with only one problem to report--An unusually high number of squatters!!
