    Following on from new ground post,I've been granted a variation on my certificate for a .223. Ive narrowed my choice down,due to reading reviews on the internet etc,to either a Howa 1500 or a CZ 527 America both are secondhand and both come with mod. If anyone here uses either I would appreciate the feedback good or bad,thanks ?

    I've been on this farm since the mid '90,s...at the moment I haven't got the time to do it,family stuff,the farmer understands hence the post ?

    Not sure if this is the right section please move if not. Any body in the Nottingham area with a silenced air rifle to help cull a few corvids and pigeons around a farm? There is livestock in the pens so I need someone who knows how to go on, MUST have insurance, NO bringing friends etc, No asking the farmer if you can have the permission he will say no? OWN transport needed. Not a permanent thing,just has and when. Not a paid job. If interested please pm me thanks.

    Well that time of year again a phone call from a desperate farmer . He has had 5 lambs killed two with their tails and noses eaten off three just bitten. So a trip up to the lambing field a few well placed snares and he phoned to tell me I had two foxes, on inspection they were a pair caught 50 yards apart .hope full this will solve his problems anyway snares are staying put for a while , so any travelling foxes can be mopped up as they come

    It seems the way to go,but as I've mentioned my firearms department said .223 when I rang so I'll have to see what they come back with,it's a minefield this shooting game ?

    Sorry deker,it is about fox,crows and magpies. I can use my .22 on the crows and magpies I've got a open ticket,but the firearms person I spoke to yesterday said I couldn't use it for fox,she asked someone there and he said .223. Like you said I suppose it's what the FEO says after land inspection.

    I spoke to my firearms yesterday and they said,rightly or wrongly,they didn't recommend a .22 rimfire for fox,they said .223 That said,they also said they can't find the land on their computer,so I'm thinking they might not pass it for a .223,when they send some one to have a look at the ground,like someone said 40 acres is a small area,I don't know ?

    There is a couple of flat fields,it's hard to describe,it's basically on the side of a valley with a stream at the bottom and a few houses on the other side.going the other way out of the valley it slopes up steeply to a couple of flat fields on the top then goes up a slight incline to the moor. All the fields are surrounded by dry stone walls.

    .22 hornet if you wear a anorak Wtf? I'm thinking .223 not fussed on the idea of reloading ?

    Yes also deer on there but I'm not interested in them. There a few houses spread around the moor so a mod would be nice ? just to be clear I haven't asked the FEO what calibre I would need,I only asked on here ?. You seem to have a problem with FEO's from what I've read ?
