Ok so as you may or may not have noticed I've seen/shot a fair few mixi rabbits recently, noticed on the monday it seemed a bit more full on that just the odd bunny, then the huge rain of tuesday would have kept them all in their runs together - where the contamination happens. It seems strange in a relativley dry period the disease is about more than I've seen since the 'plague' 2 years ago. Lots of the permission has healthy bunnies but I've seen alot more than in recent times. As mentioned previously Hugo's twin who has never ever come shooting before, despite his brothers into it,

Hi Si, Took it to Tony on Tuesday mate. He said two weeks at the moment so could be less could be more. Really cant wait to get it back, the permission has some good sport at the moment. While I've got these two 97's to mess with it will fly by, I've got Download Festival coming up too so no guns there! Hugo's twin is doing some Landscape Management course or something and has to do some bit on Pest Control and his older bro said he can use the 97K I've been using, so I think tonight I'm gonna take hi mo nthe targets anad perhaps for hunt if its looking like he can deliver. If thats th

Hello all, Not lots to report but went out and bought some AA Fields for the 97K and after wearing the rifle bag over my shoulder I had knocked the gun off zero (wont be carrying it like that again). When looking around on the permission (I have only two) that I have no use for other than shelter and a nice 30 meter zero area I have looked over this wall a few times to spook the odd pheasant or grouse. Pity we cant take them but oh well, I think these spots have some potential for pigeon decoying as they often seem to feed on the crops here. Need a chair or something and a re

Hello all, My friend recently bought a Webley Raider 10, and in the deal he got this bottle. We drove and had it filled for a tenner from scratch, so its a good full fill. Week or two later the gun turns out faulty and ending up buying a Weihrauch HW97KT instead he didnt need the bottle but the buggers would take it back as it was 'used'. This is a brand new fully charged 3 litre tank, had 3-4 refills maximum on a Webley Raider so loads to go still. £130 INCLUDING deliverey as its gonna cost a ton. Get in touch if interested. Jack

Hahah yeh it doesnt look a bit chaotic there but everywhere else is tidy, its been a farm for god knows how many years so theres all sorts laying about. Warming to it mate yeh. Nothing like using your own rifle though ! Jack

I popped out this evening for an hour, 18.45-19.45 still quite warm and bright skys. Crept round the haybails mentioned on my other post (where I got one yesterday eve) and didnt see anything at first.. Slowly looked about but nothing. I started to fairly slowly, quietley walk alongside the overgrowth (mainly stingers), old machines and pallets etc. Took this picture while sat on a few bails a while back in the sun may show you what I mean! Thing that struck me when I just by chance came accross this file is the difference in season of it. I was there today and we dont appreciate these ch

You got 6 crows in the end then?? Jack

Great hunting mate. Me and my mate used to do the old 1,2,3 thwack. Used to practice it aswell! Never did it beyond 30 meters as your less accurate as you feel under pressur eif you know what I mean? Thought we were the only ones! Cracking shot on the bunny by the way. Jack

Good bag and tactics with the radios Davy. Godd read also! Jack

Cheers mate. To be honest I'm not too gutted about my 95K as its going to be better for it after a full tune at Sandwell Field Sports. I have fired between 35-50 tins (17500-25000) of pellets through her buddy as shes been my only lover (rifle that is) so no suprise she is spring tired. It still shows though you can do the damage even with a 9ftlb I've been knocking over bunnies for weeks with it without knowing! (Under 35 meters of course). My local gunsmith has a HW95K .177 in perfect condition, the fella bought it from him then two weeks later came in and traded it in plus cash for a HW

End of evening pic. Fun time out with the 97K, skinned them up for the freezer. Little tip for anyone who prefers to not get their hands covered in guts etc (providing none of you work at a petrol station near Chipping Norton), is I grab a handful of the plastic gloves they have where you refill your petrol! I am not bothered by the mess but when your driving somewhere after these little babys reduce down the gore a little bit and speed the process up when you dont mess about get in there!! Probably going to go have a real intense target session with her this afternoon and go for another

Where he fell, shot behind the eye was to send him on his way, you can see the foul shot above.

Getting over to her I noticed she was very large and had clearly been feeding kits. So I presumed she may have already had a set of them and was no longer pregnant, however when skinning I would find out she was currently carrying little ones. This isnt something that I find horrible, as morally I stand by the view that the babies were not aware of their own existence let alone suffering, however everyones different and if I had known she was pregnant I wouldnt have shot her in this case purely as she was quite far down the line and 6 more sprats wouldnt have been the end of the world. So I set out my pellet catcher at 25 meters and had some shots, doing well I moved back to 30 meters to see where I would need to aim to achieve good shot placement. One thing that did strike me was I felt a real difference in power to my 95k, until I had fired this I felt that my 95k (dieing spring and found recently to be shooting at 9ftlb hence tune) was still going strong however this was like a rail gun! I landed some shots in the bull at 30 meters and was ready to set off, not really intending to go for kills beyond this as I was happy there would be enough opportunities for me n

Good day all, Since my gun is waiting to be driven to Sandwell Fieldsports tomorrow morning by myself to be left for a full tune etc I am gunless until its return probably in around two weeks. Luckily my shooting buddy and his brother have been down this weekend and we went for a bit of a roam on saturday but had no luck. One of them has a HW97KT which has barely had 500 hots through her yet, and his brother has the standard stock version, HW97K. Hugos been assigned a unit now he's passed out as a Royal Marine and probably will be in the dustbowl in no time . His brother lives in Lond

HW95 OR BSA LIGHTNING XL OR BSA SUPERSPORT
JackReid replied to Davy T's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Cant talk about the Lightning L as I've never touched one, but the 95 and Supersport as others ahve said are in different leagues. Jack -
look forward to the writeup mate. Jack

Good to hear your getting out mate. Unlucky about the miss shot, I personally like to fire off at least a few pellets at a target at my zero range before I go hutning, like give yourself 30 mins before or less. Nearly always my first shot is a few inches off so I get rid of any bad technique lingering about then once you feel you can take anything down that when I go hunt!! You tried that busy part of the permission in the evening yet? like 7pm onwardss? Jack

I am just trying to fix my mates supersport at the moment mate, always make sure those front stock screws are nice and tight for accuracy, but as the others have said, I say its a 30 meter max gun as it fires with a real twang, fine for pest control within that range though. Just remember wild firing into an animal will get you nowhere fast other than a guilty feeling! That said my mate has killed a fair few rabbits and crows etc with his just practice, I would say go .22 as the flatter trajectory isnt going to be a huge difference between 0-30. All the best Jack
